My wife and I have founded our own companies and are in our mid-20's. We've started an HSA putting $100/month into it and it's been great so far. We have health insurance but don't have to pay any of the huge rates. In addition, when you're speaking with doctors' offices about payment and you say something along the lines of "Can I pay with cash/check? It seems silly for you to waste so much time on those forms" some will give you discounts... I've seen them as deep as 30% because they know that when you walk out the door, they're done with the transaction.

KC: And you did a great job, too! I always look forward to reading all the different posts, and seeing all the varied perspectives.

Glad to hear that you're happy with your HSA. If you don't mind, I wonder if you can tell me if you've had any problems with the providers when you tell them that you're covered under an HSA/HDHP. One of the objections that I've come across is that providers don't know how much to charge, and insured's don't know how much to pay (because of re-pricing issues). Has this been your experience?

Also, based on your comment, I take it that you have what we'd call an individual HSA/HDHP (as opposed to a group plan at one's employer). Is this the case?

Thanx for your comments, and continued good luck with your blog, and with your HSA!
