Good for you, Mike!
I've read a bit about Romney at Townhall; the one strike against him is that he is Mormon (not my personal opinion but the objective consensus of many).

It kind of surprised me that Romney's name came up in conversation. The gentleman who brought his name up didn't think Romney had the name recognition to go all the way to getting the nomination, but might make a good VP candidate. Interesting that Bill O'Reilly on FOX NEWS also said nice things about Romney this week.
Romeny had not even registered on my radar until now.

Nor has he registered on mine, but we're so busy trying to keep up with everything that's going on who can keep up with all these people? Sheesh! Looks like I've got even more research to do!

There's plenty of time to learn more about ALL these fine candidates. We have an embarrassment of riches in our party. I told Pataki he should tell that to Alan Cholmes next time he's on Hannity and Cholmes.

I've been hearing about Romney for a few months now. He looks good, but as atheling said, the fact that he's a Mormon will be a strike against him according to 'those in the know'. I liked him up until recently. He did something crazy - - dang! Now I can't remember what it was. I think it had something to do with healthcare.
Looks like y'all had a good time. Great pics.

I did have a good time. I was afraid Scarlett was going to blind Pataki with her camera. I didn't post the ones where she shoved it in his face to see if the flash was working.

Romney is indeed a strong candidate especially in business and financial matters, but alas it is a political fact that his being Mormon would probably doom his candidacy.

I don't understand why being a Mormon would be a disqualifier. Does Romney have two or three wives?

Hey Scarlett we need to see a current picture of Mike. He keeps hiding behind the 25yrold one of him and uncle Ron. He's been heard to mumble somthing about breaking your new camera if ya take one and post it...LOL
Things like being a Mormon or Jewish or Catholic only mean something to the MSM. The things that matter to the people are who and what you are. Something that the traitorous SCUM (McCain) will find out when after he lines up all the party bigwigs and the MSM press and still no one votes for the scumbag, traitor, failure of a fighter pilot, betrayer of the constitution, manchurian dog....

Troll. I took a marvelous picture of Mike shaking

Dcat: It's not my house. I wish. Incredible place.
And for the record: I haven't had a cookie in MONTHS. The first time I do, Scarlett snaps a photo of me with the Governor of New York.
I still haven't seen the photos of Scarlett with Pataki...

Mike,
Troll's right about the Mormon thing. I think Romney is a decent family man, but Mormons do have this stereotype for some weirdness which will hurt him if he runs.
Gayle is right about his doing something about healthcare... I'm looking for it right now... He signed a mandatary health care plan for Massachusetts; those who can't afford it will be subsidized. On the other hand I like what he says about Islam. He seems to be the only one who understands what we're up against and is willing to stand up to it.
From here, Diana West says: http://www.washtimes.com/op-ed/2...82844-
1518r.htm
"This brings us to the one small bright spot to mark off the anniversary week of September 11 -- an anniversary blackened by the decision to allow Mohammed Khatami, former president of Iran, the preeminent state sponsor of terrorism, into the United States. Mr. Khatami, who supports Hezbollah and the destruction of Israel, will be speaking on the eve of September 11 at Harvard on -- get this -- "Ethics of Tolerance in the Age of Violence." Bring your own air-sickness bag.
But here's that bright spot: Denouncing the Khatami visit, GOP Governor Mitt Romney of Massachusetts ordered state agencies to refuse to provide assistance during the Khatami visit -- which means no pomp and motorcade for the Iranian stooge. As Mr. Romney put it, "State taxpayers should not be providing special treatment to an individual who supports violent jihad and the destruction of Israel." How simple, how true.
Five years later, somebody gets it."
From what else I've read about him, he seems to be the only possible candidate who has the balls to put his money where his mouth is. Newt Gingrich is another possibility.

As I told Pataki, the GOP has an embarrasment of riches when it comes to good candidates in 2008. Early next year you can expect the shakeout to begin.

Don't lie to us Mike, we know where do you live (J/K) :P
Anyway, It's boring lately to see almost same news over and over in Israel. Assad says something and bang - big summary - Same about the Iranian president.
Anyway, now the holiday is quite busy for, many festivals and even H.W.
P.S: When you'll post your other pictures?

"As I told Pataki, the GOP has an embarrasment of riches when it comes to good candidates in 2008."
Hey Mike, I don't know about that! As far as I know, we have no candidates that get wild-eyed, gesticulate, wave their hands in the air over their heads, jab their fingers at people, and rant and rave!
Obviously, that is the mark of a good candidate and politician!

W.F. The only candidates that need such wild theatrics are the ones trying to take your mind off the fact that they are LYING... In the GOP, those kinds of candidates are in short supply.

I'm not sure about Pataki, maybe because I don't yet know enough about him. For sure, though, I'd support him before McCain. As a Republican, I think McCain is as close to a democrat as one can get. Having said that, and here's my usual qualifier, I would indeed vote for McCain over any democrat, the party of pelosi, reid, sheehan, moore, hollywood, as well as the world's terrorists, and the rest of the left-wing socialists. I do like Romney, and find it interesting that, in spite of being Morman, he was elected governor of one of our most liberal states, the state that keeps re-electing kennedy, and re-elected the pedophile studds 3 times.

This is very cool that you got to meet him!!
It will be a cold day in hell before McCain gets the Republican nomination. Ann Coulter was saying that there is no way McCain or Guiliani gets it.
Unfortunately I'm not a fan of Pataki or Romney getting it either. They are both too moderate for me although there are things I like about Romney. If I didn't have a contact in Massachusetts who has assured me that he is not a conservative I would probably be more impressed with him.

I asked the gentleman who mentioned Romney about him being too liberal for SC. He didn't think it would be that much of a handicap once we got to know more of his positions on the full range of issues.
I'm willing to compromise on SOME issues. But any candidate that wants my vote has to do at least two things: 1. Stand for the strongest possible defense and ACTION in the war on terror and 2. Not try to go along to get along with the Democrats on every issue.
Anyone who wants another round of the "new tone" won't get my vote.
