Democrats will always follow in the footprints of the author of US socialized government FDR. More government and less from the private sector thus donations to the private sector are of no consequence. Interesting piece of FDR trivia that I'm sure you already knew. His mom hated Social Security so much that she refused to pay it so FDR paid it for her to keep the public from knowing! Good post as always Mike.

Liberals would rather "take" than give, that's why they would celebrate tax day much easier than Christmas!
We conservatives are indeed more generous with our money than liberals are. John Stossel conducted a test where he put out Salvation Army buckets in both San Francisco and Sioux Falls, S.D. 30% more money was collected in conservative Sioux Falls than in liberal San Francisco, and it doesn't surprise me.
By the way, Merry Christmas!

Excellent post, Mike!
For too long we have been fed the delusional crap about liberals being so compassionate when they are the most tight fisted hypocrites when it comes to personally giving.
My friend's teenage daughter bussed tables in a restaurant when she was in high school, saving money for college. She came home so upset one night because she said that the local Democratic Party had a big dinner at the restaurant and left a crappy tip amounting to less than 10% of their bill! (Unfortunately this was a restaurant that didn't have the "added gratuity" for large parties). So much for Democrats being the party for the "little guy."

Atheling2 ... oh my... Liberal Democrat Diet: wine and quiche, preferably paid for with someone else's money.
Amazing how cheap they are with their own money, which sounds positively conservative does it not? But very wasteful with everyone else's money.
Or there is another explanation. Conservatives do not believe it's the government's job to provide for the common good while liberals believe that is the only job of government so they do not need to donate money.
Either way it makes liberals cheapskates and obviously aweful tippers.

In my experience, most Conservatives see a need and give from the heart to help someone "there, but, by the grace of God, go I."
Most Liberals think of those in need as less than they are and do not react with heart - only pass it to the government to "do something."

I wonder what Arthur's take is on this subject?
(Not that I really care...)
If it weren't for OPM the liberals would have nothing to offer in the way of socialistic programs. They depend upon the conservatives to fund it via confiscation.
As taxes go up, the ability of the conservatives to give goes down; net result - less money actually makes it to where it is needed. Way to go socialists!

Huh!
I give from the heart not party!
But it is true Mike the Republicans give more and some like to stay anon about it.
Liberals like to beat their chest over a dollar!

Liberals fancy themselves as some kind of modern day Robin Hood...they take from the working class and redistribute to the non-working class - all the while extolling their own good virtue for having done so.

Liberals are real good at taking other peoples'money and even better at finding loopholes (or giving themselves loopholes) to not pay their fair share. John Kerry is a great example.

And just what has Ralph got wrong?
