DING DING DING DING DING!!!!! -13.... How High can this go???

Sorry I missed this one. Although I may be on the
Hilton Head Republican Parties " do not let in list"
after what I inadvertendly said to Senator Thompson when he was in Bluffton.
I heard Mayor Guiiani on Hannity today. He pledged
he would appoint Supreme Court Justices with the
same values as Roberts, Scalia et al.
A conservative court is our lifeline and only hope
for preserving our constitution. Souter wants to
incorporate european laws into the U.S.
Yeah right.

Gravatar Scarlett: I was hoping you could bring your Golden Retriever down to the Restaurant and show support from "Mutts for Mitt" and see if Romney has overcome that little brouhaha about putting the family dog on the roof of the car when they would vacation.

Gravatar I've noticed that when asked a similar questions Romney always gives the laundry list.

One thing also about his record with a Dem legislature. Quite alot of his record was compormise with the Dems in order to get bills passed.

We do NOT need any more of that in the White House!

Gravatar My girl supports Goldens for Guiani.

Gravatar Ken: That's interesting. It will be up to Giuliani, and perhaps Fred Thompson to start making that point.

P.S. "Goldens for Giuliani" is good.
I wonder if there will be a "Rottweilers for Rudy" too?

Gravatar Nah.

Gravatar Thanks for the reportage, Mike.

I'm not sure what to make about Romney. He almost seems too presidential and picture-perfect, like a Ken Barbie doll, with tailor-made talking points.

I'll support him if he's the "chosen one". But I'm not sure if he has what it takes to win the general election. He lacks name recognition among those who don't really follow politics.

And his response to the question regarding why his sons don't serve was embarrassing; and I did not like the peek it gave me into his character; of who he might be underneath all that well-groomed charisma and polish.

Gravatar Ditto Wordsmith's comments plus more.

Mike:
This is just getting downright disgusting that you've gotten to meet all these guys. I guess I need to move to South Carolina !!

But an excellent post and a good look at Romney.

Gravatar I'm not trying to pile on the "Romney-bash" train wagon, and would love if someone can point this out as nothing more than an attempt at character assassination, but what to make of these charges?

This is just getting downright disgusting that you've gotten to meet all these guys.

I'd really like to see Mike's America meet with Ron Paul. That will make for an interesting post.

Gravatar Ron Paul? No thanks. Also, John McCain is coming on Monday and I think I'm going to skip it as I've already stated I wouldn't support him in the primary.

That link bomb Word dropped is pretty heavy hitting stuff. But it's fair game if Romney is going to violate Reagan's 11th Commandment and go after Rudy so aggresively.

Gravatar Excellent Interviews Mike

I am more confused than ever about the candidates however.

You guy's in SC have to figure out who you are supporting before we in Oklahoma do, so I still have some time. But the clock is ticking.

Maybe if I keep reading your interviews I will either get more confused or figure someone out lol.

I really want Fred, but he has to get moving fast!

I gotta agree with Word though, an interview with Ron Paul would be very entertaining Ha!

Gravatar I will be anxiously awaiting your decsion on who to support.

I am supportive of all the candidates you interviewed however I am undecided on who I will support. I am leaning toward Gulianni and Thompson as the top picks, with Romney and Hunter as my last.

I can understand how much easier it would be to make the choice when one has the opportunity to be in their presence. Great job!!

Gravatar http://www.counterpunch.org/ whit...ey11092007.html

great news! Ron Paul the only conservative in the race, gets important left-of-center endorsement.

Gravatar Marie: John McCain is coming on Monday, but unless I get a request to go hear him I'm going to skip it, as decided long ago I would not support him in the primary.

If Ron Paul or Mike Huckabee comes I would go see either one out of curiosity. I'd love to ask Ron Paul to admit that he is in fact a Libertarian and NOT a conservative and demand he pledge to suppor the eventual nominee of the GOP or drop out of the race.

Rivka: One thing I have concluded from my face to face opportunities from the top three candidates is that the GOP is blessed with so many fine choices. Face to face meetings also provides a rare opportunity to get a personal feel as to the likeability and trustworthiness of a candidate.

From Hoop's link: "Ron Paul, Big Media's Invisible Candidate."

That should be enough reason to oppose him.

But that article left out one other very important feature of a potential Ron Paul Presidency:

Under Ron Paul, more Americans would be killed by terrorists as Ron Paul dismantles all intelligence networks and bans interrogation of terrorists.

Gravatar No, less Americans will be killed by terrorists as polls throughout the Moslem world show they hate us because of our presence in their lands, overthrowing regimes as Mossadegh in 1953, funding Israel's oppression of Palestinians, etc.

Once we get out, the anti-American jihad ranks lessen by 99%. Paul advocates we do just that, so stay and be killed or get out and be respected.

Gravatar Mike typed:

Mike's America asked the follow-up question (paraphrasing) "We've been disappointed in candidates who run as conservatives then compromise our values with Democrats. How would you assure South Carolina conservatives that you would govern as a conservative if elected President?"

That isn't a question Mike. That's a statement.

And given the fact that you and your buddies prefer your 'values' distilled into a message which would fit on a bumper sticker in exceedingly large type it's a statement devoid of meaning and impossible to respond to.

That's why 'support traditional marriage' and 'defeat Islamo-fascism' get such play here. Meaningless phrases repeated over and again to the clueless.

That's Mikes America.

Pity you wouldn't turn up for Ron Paul. Though I can see why it would be painful for you.

He's a complicated guy.

And smart.

Gravatar http://blogs.cqpolitics.com/ davi...ucinichand.html

Isolationist Paul setting all kinds of funding records as 68% of Americans oppose war (Bush's worst rating)

Gravatar "Arthur:"

"How would you assure South Carolina conservatives that you would govern as a conservative if elected President?"

How at the beginning of a sentence punctuated with a "?" mark constitutes a question.

And as for " 'values' distilled into a message which would fit on a bumper sticker in exceedingly large type" You must be talking about yourself AGAIN.

Good grief.... go back to rehab....and take that Islamist Hoop with you.

Hoopturd cites DAVID CORN???? Oh how funny! Like that lefty loon will convince anyone of anything.

Gravatar mike - did you catch duncan hunter on beck tonight?

it was a very informative hour.

if you haven't taken this test to see which candidate you're most closely aligned with, you won't ever know.......

as for me - over 80% duncan hunter - who knew?

although, as an evangelical christian - i can honestly say i do like romney - now, if he'll just kick his faith to the curb...i don't want a president who rests upon their faith to try and rope me in - not like this last potus, although given the alternative, i would NEVER have voted for kerry.

Gravatar Nanc: I wrote about my luncheon with Duncan Hunter last March and linked it at the bottom of the Romney post.

As I told Hunter, we agree with his positions, but what quality does he have that would get the job done?

As my friend Scarlett said (she was there too) she didn't think Hunter had the charisma to actually get the job done.

I reluctantly agree. It's not enough to be in agreement with the candidate and to fully trust that what he says is what he would do. You must also believe he COULD get the job done.

We have to be realistic. Let the Ron Paul loons live in fantasy land. We can't afford to.

Gravatar No, less Americans will be killed by terrorists as polls throughout the Moslem world show they hate us because of our presence in their lands, overthrowing regimes as Mossadegh in 1953, funding Israel's oppression of Palestinians, etc.

No, they hate us because of flawed perception, similar to the flawed perception you have, thanks to the Ward Churchills, Noam Chomskys, and Howard Zinn self-loathing America-haters. The perception ignores such things as the fact that we also "fund" many other Middle Eastern countries, as well as come to rescue of Muslims in Kosovo, Somalia, Kuwait, etc.

And for the radicals, American foreign policy is just a convenient excuse. In its absence, the salafi jihadists and wahhabists would still hate us because our very existence threatens their way of life.

Once we get out, the anti-American jihad ranks lessen by 99%. Paul advocates we do just that, so stay and be killed or get out and be respected.

Ron Paul is clueless on the issue of foreign policy. And so are you, for that matter.

Gravatar Hoopie has it backwards as usual.

Polls in the Muslim world already showed the influence of Osama bin Laden and desire for violent jihad declining.

Our success in Iraq will only accelerate that.

That's why Iraq has been such an important part of our overall strategy.

Gravatar arthur said... Pity you wouldn't turn up for Ron Paul. Though I can see why it would be painful for you.

He's a complicated guy.

And smart.

Nothing could be further from the truth arthur. Ron Paul has been repeating the same old practiced and easily refuted lines since 1988. ronulans are projecting a persona on ron paul that he is just not. he isn't smart or complicated. he knows he can't win but he knows the ronulan morons will give him lots of money and after he loses miserably he will retire from congress richer than he is now. if that's what you mean by smart. I call it dishonest and contemptible. Ron paul is not a conservative he is an alien libertarian.

Gravatar I did happen to catch Hunter on Beck last night and I was very impressed. He doesn't stand much of a chance because he has no name recognition. He exhibits a better grasp of fiscal policies than any other candidate I have seen.

Gravatar If the Coalition leaves Iraq and Afghanistan right now to satisfy Ron Paul's vision of making America better; then ... how can I say this ... the terrorist threat will follow our retreat back to these shores. How can I say this? By retreating we will have conceded a battlefiled we have spent our nation's greatest treasure, the lives of our young men and women, to the fundamentalist jihadi death worshipping types. These types will surge to ascendence since the average people will assume they are the stronger and to save their own lives will support them. Once this base is secured they will then look towards our shores because we will still be a threat they can use to keep people in line, that Great Satan could return and enslave us again would be their argument. So the jihad WILL come here to end the threat of America upon their dreams of a global caliphate.

That is the naive-quest Ron Paul and his supporters are pursuing.

Now to the meat of this post, Mike you need to work for Fox News with all these great interviews. The more information we have, the better chance of making a good decision.

Gravatar Thanks Anna: But if I was working for a news organization I wouldn't be as free to editorialize.

I've tried to be fair and balanced but that's going to come to an end rather soon when I declare my support.

Gravatar Mike's America | Homepage | 11.09.07 - 9:26 pm

David Corn ---and a failed war are very convincing. Tell me this Miller.
How you gonna continue a war with
32% support?

Anna Puna | Homepage | 11.10.07 - 11:28 am

Six soldiers killed today in Afghanistan. The Empire is overextended and losing on three fronts.

Wordsmith

Like the Moslem world doesn't realize we kicked Saddam out of Kuwait for
oil and Israel's sake. And by helping KLA guerrilas in Kosovo were only reacting against a feared Russian Orthodox/Serbian (what Miller might call 'fascist') arc of a combine, and hoping to appease Islam for Israel's sake.

"way of life"... yeah, too many Gerry Springer shows and other filth. I empathize with them.

Gravatar That 32% support for LOSING... Try reading the poll number for Americans who want to WIN.

Gravatar Jennifer Gallagher typed:

Ron paul is not a conservative he is an alien libertarian.

Indeed.

A marked improvement over being a 'conservative'.

Gravatar So much much of your ill gotten gains have you donated to fund Ron Paul's losing campaign Artie?

Gravatar Wow, Mike, you sure are energetic, getting out to see all of the candidates. My hat is off to you.

I favor Mitt Romney. The reasons he gives for his changes of heart on social issues ring true. There are no blemishes in his personal life and no scandals in his past.

Ron Paul is a nut and that's all there is to it.

Gravatar mike - did you see over at redstate where they declared that ron paul supporters could leave comments, but only if they left them in "haiku"?

i thought i'd die laughing!

apparently, they were spamming the boards with their "ron paul" propaganda and it just didn't sit well with the proprietors.

Gravatar Thompson is the clear choice. He is the only consistent conservative in this race.

Gravatar arthur said...A marked improvement over being a 'conservative'.

nice try arthtur. ronulans are are no different than the left wing lunatic fringe that is soundly rejected every time they run. On the other hand most average Americans identify themselves as having conservative values and that's why candidates like Mrs. Clinton must run to the right in order to gain support. Her worst worry is she will be exposed as the hard left wingnut that she is. She cannot tell the truth about herself or people will turn away from her in droves like they are already beginning to do. Leftwingnuts and libertarians have never been popular with American voters.

That's why ronulan space alien must try and convince voters he is a conservative when nothing could be further from the truth.

Gravatar Hey Mike,

Sort of lost touch over the last few months. Nice to be back. I linked over from flopping aces. It is great that you have had a chance to meet with so many of the candidates. I have gotten up to NH a few times to see Mitt and Rudy at Town Halls and have even been "on the bus" with McCain a couple of times (who I firmly support).

I'll be back and invite you to stop over at Azammaterofact.

Tom the Islamophobic Israeli puppet doesn't like Ron Paul. So what?
