-14, A NEW RECORD LOW

Hooray! Your decision was well reasoned and
well thought out. I agree, Rudy Guiliani is just
right for these perilous times.
Why don't you send a copy of your endorsement
of Rudy's presidency and unindorsement of his
South Carolina Primary to the staff member who
answered your email. Maybe, just maybe they
will take a second look at the situation.

Gravatar "Why don't you send a copy of your endorsement of Rudy's presidency and unindorsement of his South Carolina Primary to the staff member who
answered your email."

It was done before you suggested it. Along with a note to local GOP bigwigs.

The same post has also been put up at the SC and nationwide blogs to which I currently contribute:

http://chatterboxchronicles.blog...g-for- rudy.html

Your suggestion reminded me to make those links in the post.

Happy New Year!

Gravatar i agree and will support whomever the party nominee turns out to be - - i'm just working hard to make sure it ain't rudy........!

go Fred!!!!

Gravatar Mike, I do appreciate the fact that Rudy cleaned up New York City and has been hard charging leader long before 9/11. I have said that from the beginning of this campaign. Rudy is a good man that is up for the job. I will support Rudy if he is the nominee but I still prefer Mitt Romney for the personal reasons that I have stated before.

I have a message for the wacko conspiracy people that support ron paul and dennis kucinich etc... The only real way to change the way things are going for you is the image you see in the mirror. You may hate the republic for which it stands but you will always find people like me that will die to defend it from people like you.

Gravatar OT, but, Happy New Year!

Gravatar Are you insane? Just listen to the guy!

“If any Republican is elected president — and I think obviously I would be best at this — we will remain on offense and will anticipate what (the terrorists) will do and try to stop them before they do it.”

And if you somehow missed what he was really saying, somehow didn’t hear the none-too-subtle subtext of “vote Democratic and die,” Mr. Giuliani then stripped away any barrier of courtesy: “America will be safer with a Republican president.”

On what imaginary track record does Mr. Giuliani base his boast?

Which party held the presidency on Sept. 11, 2001, Mr. Giuliani?

Which party held the mayoralty of New York on that date, Mr. Giuliani?

Which party assured New Yorkers that the air was safe and the remains of the dead recovered and not being used to fill potholes, Mr. Giuliani?

Which party wanted what the terrorists wanted — the postponement of elections — and to whose personal advantage would that have redounded, Mr. Giuliani?

Which mayor of New York was elected eight months after the first attack on the World Trade Center, yet did not emphasize counter-terror in the same city for the next eight years, Mr. Giuliani?

Which party had proposed to turn over the Department of Homeland Security to Bernard Kerik, Mr. Giuliani?

Who wanted to ignore and hide Kerik’s organized crime allegations, Mr. Giuliani?

Who personally argued to the White House that Kerik need not be vetted, Mr. Giuliani?

Which party rode roughshod over Americans’ rights while braying that it was actually protecting them, Mr. Giuliani?

Which party took this country into the most utterly backwards, utterly counterproductive, utterly ruinous war in our history, Mr. Giuliani?

Which party has been in office as more Americans were killed in the pointless fields of Iraq than were killed in the consuming nightmare of 9/11, Mr. Giuliani?

You have NO answers for these questions that won't PROVE you're insane.

Gravatar Oh get a grip, "Waterboarding". You exaggerate and there are problems with all candidates. As for your ridiculous "On what imaginary track record does Mr. Giuliani base his boast?" I think Jennifer Gallagher already answered that by stating that he cleaned up crime in New York City. This was a herculean feat that many had thought impossible

Mike, if Giuliani gets the nomination I'll do everything in my power to elect him president. I'll get out and campaign and donate as much money as I can.

That said, he's not my number one choice. He worries me on the social issues, but that's not the main thing. My bit concern is with his personal past; not only three marriages, but he was apparently "dating" wives two and three while married to one and two. He's not on speaking terms with any of his children and his third wife is rude and turns people off.

http:// corner.nationalreview.com...Dg0ODZiOTgxYjM=

http://www.opinionjournal.com/di...y/? id=110010674

For these reasons and more I doubt he could win in the general, but if nominated I'll do everything I can to prove myself wrong.

Gravatar Ron Paul for president and no, I won't take the pledge to do Israel's bidding by all the others.

Because another lost war awaits if the adulterer whose own kids diss him gets in. Like Scott Ritter below depicts
the Iraq 5 pronged lost war.

http://www.truthdig.com/report/ i..._the_five_iraqs

Gravatar Tom the Redhunter typed; his (Rudy's) third
wife is rude and turns people off. When Rudy
was here in South Carolina campaigning his
wife was with him and she was warm, friendly
and charming. She is also much more attractive
than her pictures. I thought at the time she
would make a fine first lady.

Gravatar When Rudy & Judith were here in Bluffton at a private fund raiser, Judith was friendly, unpretentious, and charming...and contrary to what one of the above articles insinuates - she behaved that way with all the women who were there, including the very good-looking ones.

Gravatar Trying to explain to writers like the waterboarding dip why the terrorists had time and freedom to plan, train for and then execute the attacks of 9/11 is like trying to explain to Rosie O'Donnell that fire does melt steel. It's now useless to do anything but minimize the impact these type of people have making important decisions. I believe there should be a polling test. Waterboard probably couldn't tell you who their representative is or what district they live in either.

Gravatar “If any Republican is elected president — and I think obviously I would be best at this — we will remain on offense and will anticipate what (the terrorists) will do and try to stop them before they do it.”

And if you somehow missed what he was really saying, somehow didn’t hear the none-too-subtle subtext of “vote Democratic and die,” Mr. Giuliani then stripped away any barrier of courtesy: “America will be safer with a Republican president.”

The only untruth in Giuliani's statement is, Ron Paul would not be on offense; and I don't trust Huckabee to remain so. Other than that, name me one Democratic leader who understands the terror threat more than the Republican leadership? Wishing the Islamist threat to just go away isn't going to protect us. Appeasing them is not going to protect us. In which Democratic presidential debate did one candidate "name" the enemy? Other than to hate George Bush more than they hate the ones who are actually trying to kill us.

The answer to national security is not to put more Democrats into office.

Gravatar Tom Redhunter: I wish you had told us who you were supporting. It's time to take a stand. I promise not to yell at you as long as your choice isn't Ron Paul.

Don & Jennifer: I encourage you both to make every effort to support your candidate. They are both fine men. The only total loser in the GOP race is Ru Paul, but KKK Ken has already shown that to be the case so I need not repeat the point.

As for "Waterboarding"'s question asking whether I am insane. He/She/It has yet to answer my question posed some time back at Dee's blog askiny why this country would be better off if the thousands of occupants in the Library Tower of Los Angeles would be better off dead since that is what likely would have happened had we not waterboarded the two Al Queda monsters, including the mastermind of 9/11.

Something tells me that "waterboarding" is not a model for sanity.

P.S. Jungle Mom. Thanks...Happy New Year to you too. Are you still here or back in Venezuela now?

Gravatar Great post! I think I'll just put up a link and say ditto =)

Gravatar Mike,
I am concerned about Giuliani's stance on gun control, to which I'm vehemently opposed.

Still, having twice read Giuliani's book Leadership, I think that I'll have to support him against any Dem candidate. Electing a Dem will result in disaster for our national and international security.

Gravatar O.k... O.K..!!! You, Dee and wordsmith are causing me to be tempted to 'flip-flop' on Fred. I like Rudy too but I have one hesitation and I am not sure it is worth being concerned about or not.

I mean this with sincerity as I objectively look at this.

Do you feel confident that Rudy will be a good judge of character when choosing supreme court nominees, and the same with picking those who will serve in his administration?

I am asking this because Rudy endorsed Bloomberg and I am concerned that his discernment may be an issue. That is my only hesitation.

Please do give me your opinion. Again, I just want to know if my thinking is off so that I can perhaps re-think my pick.

Gravatar although a Fred Head, I like Rudy. The more I read the more I like.

Gravatar Always on Watch...Rudy's position on guns is that is a state issue and not a federal issue, so for that reason, he is very good on guns in my opinion b/c that is exactly where the position needs to be.

Rivka...he has said that he would pick judges like Scalia, Thomas, Roberts and Alito, so that works for me. His endorsement of Bloomberg caused issues for me a little as well, but compared to the rest of the field that was electable, he was probably the best choice. He also endorsed Dems for mayor as well, but like he has said, they were in his opinion the best choice for NYC at the time. We have to remember how liberal NYC is and that no candidate there will ever be 100% on board with us, but like Mike quoted in the post and 80% friend is not my enemy.

Gravatar Rivka: A lot of people endorsed Blomberg and were deceived. I still have a "Mike for Mayor" button around here someplace.

With judges it's a little easier to discern their stand on issues because they write many, MANY opinions which can be studied.

But I don't want to tell you that you should dump Fred. I don't know when your Kansas primary is, but you can always make up your mind, or change it, when the date gets closer.

P.S. AOW: Rudy's record on guns in NYC was not what I would have liked. But as Cajun (who I believe was just shooting with his Dad over the holidays before heading back to Iraq) pointed out Rudy's made it clear this is not a Federal issue.

Gravatar Mike,
Gun control should not be a federal issue. Still, isn't the Brady Law federal legislation?

Gravatar Yes, and that was wrong. Not sure what Rudy's position on it was.

Gravatar I believe he is on record saying he does not support the Brady law and that it should be overturned and given to the states.

Gravatar I'm going for Fred if he's still kicking. Gayle put up a great youtube video of Fred that I, even in my post-holiday malaise, found the energy to post on my blog as well.

Of course I will support Rudy if it comes to that. He's strong on War on Islamofascists, doesn't feel the need to cowtow to terrorists, he will pick good judges (I trust). Hopefully you're right about the gun control thing and I have concerns about his border security position which seems to have changed over the last year or so. Those last two items are the things that have pushed me away from all out support of him.

Gravatar Thanks for the input on Rudy. There is one thing about Rudy that I just can't get over that while I question his judgment of the character of others, there is no doubt he is a man of action. Rudy WILL get the job done and I like the things he has talked about that he will get done. I am very confident of that BASED on his record in NYC.

I was excited when Bush said he was going to try to get vouchers, but in the end compromised with kennedy and came up with no child left behind. I was SOOOO disappointed that it fell through.

I hope Rudy doesn't try to reach across the isle and compromise on issues like that. Compromising with liberals only means you end up doing it their way or another way which is a useless watered down version of the original plan.

Gravatar Rivka...I can totally understand your concern. If he is elected it will then be up to us to hold his feet to the fire to make sure he follows through with his campaign pledges.

Gravatar Excellent evaluation Mike, but as you know I have endorsed Fred but will vote for Rudy if he wins the nomination.

Like you I have been confused by both candidates lackluster campigning in SC, but I have learned that after Iowa Fred is planning a similar bus-storming trip through the Palmetto State.

Gravatar Mike welcome aboard The Rudy Express... As I stated in my endorsement I like Rudy's background and Rivka because of that background there is no need to wory about what Judges he'll pick I gurantee they will be good ones.

Waterboarding you gotta stop eating those mushrooms your brain has been damaged enough

However, Wordsmith waterboarding provides a very important example You said "name me one Democratic leader who understands the terror threat more than the Republican leadership?" The Answer to that is simple Hillary. The Hildabeast knows the enemy and sees them as an opportunity for herself in the history books. The rant WB went off on is just what the beast will say if god forbid she gets elected and then use the deaths of americans to creat a government more in control than the Politburo ever was in Russia. Bill said it after 9/11 that "history" never provided him the opportunity that it did GW on 9/11 those two scare me...

Gravatar I am voting for him too...I too met him a couple months ago in California. He was very generous with his time ...He is the most authentic guy in the race!

Gravatar Thanks all. As I said, Rudy's not perfect, but who is? I know he would be a good leader, even if I didn't always agree with him.

If he gets elected I would hope he remembers who his friends are and doesn't try and please or compromise with everyone.

Gravatar If Giuliani is elected I feel a draft in here. No matter. Either Dem or Rep is going to pull out of Iraq without a pro-American government in place, and be notorious for supervising over the second part of a double-whammy whippin' in Afganistan.

Gravatar http://www.nysun.com/article/68755

one more reason not to vote for Giuliani. he plans to surge to another defeat in Afghanistan. Got this from strata-sphere.com today, in a post where Strata exposes his total out-of-touch nature re the Iraq War.

http://strata-sphere.com/blog/in...p/archives/ 4880

AJ, get it straight. The surge did not work and Romney is distancing himself from a catastrophe, not a victory. A suicide bomb killed several dozen in the heart of Baghdad, yesterday and only a political sociopath like you, Strata, can call this commonplace loss of life a sign of "victory." There is no functioning government beyond the Green Zone and Iran controls the south
via private Shia militias.

If Rudy gets in, I feel a draft coming on and a repeat of widescale
Vietnam War protests. Ready, Jennie?
We're gonna shut the place down before we allow a widened war against Israel's enemies!

Gravatar AJ must be a Rudy man!

And the only push for the draft is curiously enough coming from the party of draft dodgers.

Amen to a surge in Afghanistan!

Gravatar Clucked like the quintessential chickenhawk.

Gravatar I'd like to know when you are signing up?

Or did you injure yourself at the last Klan rally while throwing the match on the cross?

Gravatar Four people killed in Baquba suicide bombing

www.chinaview.cn 2008-01-02 18:37:19 Print

Special report: Tension escalates in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- A female suicide bomber struck a checkpoint manned by the Awakening Council group members in the city of Baquba on Wednesday, killing four people and wounding 23 others, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A female suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest blew herself up at the checkpoint in central Baquba, some 65 km northeast of Baghdad," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Three of the anti-al-Qaida members and a woman were killed by the blast, which also wounded 23 people, the source said.

Five members of the Awakening Council group and a police officer were among the wounded people, the source added.

Earlier, a local police source put the toll at five people killed and 18 others wounded.

The Awakening councils are groups of local Sunni neighborhoods fighters, including some powerful anti-U.S. insurgent groups, who have turned their rifles toward the al-Qaida network to provide security to their neighborhoods.

Rifts emerged between the two sides after the al-Qaida members adopted a hardline Islam and exercised indiscriminate killings against both Shiite and Sunni Muslim communities.

I guess you and Strata missed today's evidence of "victory." I can hear Rudi saying, "Thank you, sir, let's have another." (in Afghan)

Gravatar Thanks for confirming that the drop in violence and death in Iraq has dropped to levels below many American inner cities!

Gravatar Apologies Mike, I forgot to say who I'm for in the race

My #1 is Romney, followed by McCain and Thompson tied for 2nd. Guiliani is third. Huckabee is a distant fourth, and Ron Paul nowhere on my list.

Don't get me wrong about Rudy, if he gets the nomination I'll do everything in my power to get him elected. I'll campaign, blog, give money, the works.

Scarlett: I certainly home I'm wrong about Rudy's wife. But I'm worried.

Gravatar http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/01...99s01- duts.html

Petraeus struts in a safe suburb and brags about victory while anarchy reigns all around him. The Iraqi equivalent of Mike twirling his Singapore Sling on the beach complaining about the American Jungle whpse untamed lawlessness
precludes America's right
and ability to bring peace elsewhere.
The gore depictred in CSM shows it hasn't.

Gravatar Yeah... That Al Gore really does make things look bad.

Face it Hoople... We're WINNING in Iraq.... Your terrorist buddies are LOSING.... and everyone knows it.

Gravatar Please? Rudy Dotty fresh and fruity? Well, I guess he could divorce his "current" wife and just wear a dress and be a "bothatoncesexual."

At least McCan't lost his mind in the Hanoi Hilton. What's Rudy Duttie's excuse?

Gravatar I'm still voting for Thompson. I'll vote Giuliani if I have to.

Gravatar Mike...you sure are a nutcase magnet. =)

Gravatar You're right Cajun. If I was a squirrel I would be overfed.

Gravatar Shorter Miller

"I am voting for Rudi because my guilty consciense trumps my "conservative" values. I am worried that is about the blowback yet to come from an Israeli Lobby controlled foreign policy that
has both angered the pan-Islamic world
and united it and its new friends Russia and China, in a way that threatens the ill-begotten lifestyle of yuppie America. Rudi and his crew of Lobby "tough guys" are our only hope of defense; who cares if they're pro-abortion and pro-queer rights?

Gravatar As usual, the opposite of what you say is true.

And if you are going to be vulgar and nasty, I will delete you.

No further warning will be issued.

Gravatar "Iraqi soldier “Caesar” killed three American soldiers because they kicked and beat a pregnant woman
Reported on many Iraqi news sites, an Iraqi soldier killed two American soldiers and a captain for kicking a pregnant Iraqi woman

The incident happened two days ago when an Iraqi soldier “Caesar Saadi” joined the American occupation forces in a raid in Mosul, he opened fire after he saw the American soldiers started to beat and kick an Iraqi pregnant woman.

Lebanese newspaper Al-akhbar reported today the story added:

In the streets of Mosul, graffiti appeared on the walls yesterday saying:

Well done Caesar
Also, people in the city are distributing leaflets saying the same text.

Caesar is now in custody accused with killing three Americans.

Here's a breaking story in the Arab press unconfirmed in the American.
Could be if true the soldiers in question were influenced a little too much by Giuliani's type of Islamophobia to be effective peacekeepers.

Gravatar Ken falls for the jihadist propaganda every time. If it was 1943 he'd be parroting Tokyo Rose or Lord Haw Haw.

Gravatar That's how he comes across Redhunter.

Is there a muzzie equivalent for Lord Haw Haw?

Gravatar Tom the Redhunter

You fell for the Zionist provided WMD propaganda. Courtesy dual loyalist Feith in the Pentagon's Office of Special Plans outed by Buchanan before the war.

Gravatar http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/ 20080...usa_soldiers_dc

story now verified. and the war is lost, I'm right on that too. it's so unpopular it's the prime reason obama
defeated permission-to-war granted bush-voting hillary-beast.

Gravatar http://66.111.34.180/look/englis...e=2& NrSection=1

Fallujah is safe? Bwahahah!

Gravatar You asked who I support for President.
I once was ready to fully support Fred Thompson.
I am truly uncommitted at this time.
As a republican I would hope to be able to support our eventual candidate.
All of us have our own belief systems. Even atheist has a belief system.
I wish Fred Thompson would catch on fire and show that desire he had when he ran for the US Senate from the state I grew up in, Tennessee.
Looking back over the elections since I was born all of the eventual presidents had southern roots themselves or their running mates.
Reagan had Bush, Clinton and Gore were both from the south, Bush was from Texas, and if Clinton was to win she will probably pick a southern candidate. People like to vote for people that are like them. That talks like themselves and who have the same or similar values.
I believe if Romney, McCain, or Giuliani win the republican nomination that they will either recruit Huckabee of Fred Thompson as their running mate or someone like Former Senator Bill Frist from Tennessee.
I am going to wait until I have more information on all of the candidates before I make up my mind.

Gravatar John Lawrence. Your comment is logged from a computer in Maryland. If that's your state of residence, your primary is Feb. 12th.

You still have a month to make up your mind.

Glad to hear you will support the eventual candidate.

Let's hope we pick a good one!

Gravatar "And unless those who disagree with my choice will make the same pledge, I won't treat their viewpoint with any consideration."

You, sir, are clearly a party loyalist and an ass.

Gravatar You sir are clearly a one issue voter and a FOOL!

Gravatar I hear all of these Ron Paul voters during the presidential debates yelling every time Ron Paul talks about ending the war and getting out of the Middle East. Have any of them truly voted in a Republican Party Primary before? I am sure many are loyal Republicans and have but I cannot help but believe that many are either truly independents or Democrats who are there to cause trouble. A major part of the Republican platform has always been a strong military since Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War with his stance against the Soviet Union and Communism. The Republican Party has generally always supported Israel's existence and understood their support and friendship in the Middle East is a true national security imperative. I believe everyone has a right to their beliefs. Once the primaries are over we need to come together and unite as one party that is inclusive of all groups or the Democratic Nominee will win the White House. I cannot support Ron Paul's position on foreign policies but I do believe he and his supporters have a right to their beliefs. When the days are done we still need to show a united front. To the Ron Paul supporters I insist that if a Democratic Party Nominee wins the White House that all of the rhetoric will not stop them from staying in Iraq and Afghanistan as long as the generals on the ground say that they need to be there. In the last Democratic debate they all but said that they would follow the directions of their military leaders on the ground and start withdrawing troops as safely as possible. Do you really think any military leader on the ground in Iraq is going to say, "Ok, I give up, go ahead and retreat." The other issues are all social conservatism and physical conservatism issues. If any of you paid attention to the last Democratic Party Debate you would have heard them talk about the biggest government bailout of the mortgage industry and more "Huge" government programs which they will say will require a "HUGE" tax increase. The 40 million unborn babies who have had their lives ended due to Roe vs. Wade will have even more company because they will ease the restrictions on abortions on demand rather than ending this genocide on the American people. Those are harsh words but I argue with anyone who would say that they are not accurate words. If 40 million were being killed in any other third world country even the Democratic Party would call it genocide instead here in America it is called "A Woman's Right to Choose." We cannot allow the next President of the United States of America to appoint more activist judges who will set America back instead of moving us forward. I ask all of you to join with me and vote Republican in the general election.
