DING DING DING DING DING!!!!! -13.... How High can this go???

I think in fairness Mike that Obama should not have to detail how he would actually pay for any tax cuts he advocates.
Isn't it a standard belief of the GOP that tax cuts pay for themselves in increased economic activity?
As for his remarks about ending our addiction to Middle East oil, that line could have been lifted from Bush's State of the Union speech of a few years ago when he too, also short on specifics I might add, promised the same thing.
I do not recall at that time any GOP defenders criticizing Bush for being short on specifics for his plan to end that dependence.
I do agree that he offered nothing to explain how he plans to pay for all of the programs he is proposing, but that to me is standard boiler plate political stuff.
I'll wait and see if McCain offers specifics on how he will pay for his upcoming wish list.
If he doesn't, I hope you'll smack him around a little. You know if he does, I'll give him his props.
Enjoy your week!

I didn't listen to Obama's speech but I can pretty much tell you what he said. We need to tax the rich because they aren't paying their fair share. We need more social programs and expand the ones we are already paying for. We need to appease our enemies and be part of the cowering community of the frightened like the Europeans. Standard issue demcorat rhetoric. Nothing has changed except the names.

Well, Shaw, I did listen to it. Every word. Took notes too. And it was part Barack soaring rhetoric. But it was mostly a list of things we've heard before. In 1992, from Bill Clinton.
Jennifer, for her choice of ignorance, is right in essentials.

I'm looking forward to the debates... hope that isn't a false hope like so much of the rest of Obama.

Still all hype and no substance. He sounded good but the polls show the people did not buy into the hype from Mount Olympus!
That combined with McCain VP specualtion and the real probability that he has picke Palin as his VP has just about ended Obamas chances for 2008!

'I didn't listen to Obama's speech but I can pretty much tell you what he said.'
The definitive Jennifer. Ignorance should never stand in the way of opinion.

I didn't listen to it, but I read the transcript. It's a different way of getting into what he said.
I agree with Jennifer and Ken.

Good, Good.
The conservative philosophy has failed this country. You are all so worried about two dudes in San Francisco getting married or what a woman might decide to do with her own uterus that you let the largest security breach of all time happen on 9/11, you couldn't see through the lies when you were told Iraq had nuclear weapons aimed at Idaho, Somehow seemed surprised that oil prices were so high after a Texas oil man with ties to the Saudi Royal family invaded a country with one of the largest reserves of oil in the world, you allowed mortgage and investment companies to give loans to homeless people and then wanted to give them our Social Security savings so they could loose that too, took money away from education, allowed incomes to drop, home values to drop, crime to rise.
If the opposite of that is liberal, sign me up.
Oh, and I can wait to see McCrusty try to debate Obama about the economy or his failed policy in Afghanistan or his lies of Iraq or his views on how to deal with foreign leaders. That will be a hoot. May require more than just a six pack and some pizza, I may throw an actual party for that one.
How many people do you think McCains speech will draw? 10-15,000?? If that?

Toadbat: You are so filled with hate it has poisoned your mind. Climb back under your rock before you get stepped on.
Steve: You're right. Reading it gives you a different perspective than the Nuremburg Rally presenation. Did you find much substance worth discussing? I didn't.

Besides the facts that:
- GWB has taken the GOP back about 40 years in time
- This is the worst White House Staff in the last 100 years to work with (Even the Carter Admin had Hamilton Jordan and Jody Powell, - who the DOD and Sec of Defense were able to at least meet with...)
- McCain has no campaign strategy, vision, until he picked Gov Palin.
Let's look at the current stats of this campiagn in the context of other Presidential campaigns of the last thirty years or so...
At this time of the year, Kerry had a 14 pt lead over GWB
At this time of the year, Dukakis had an 18 pt lead over GB Sr
At this point of the year, Carter had a 10 pt lead over RR
The Dems could not beat GWB twice - with all their money and a slobbering media machine backing their people
Right now, DemaCain and BHO are in a dead lock at this same time of the year...see the pattern?
McCain is getting more campaign contributions than BHO in spades!
How is BHO going to win the election if he is already conceeding OH and FL? Tell me this, what states will BHO win that he lost to Hillary? BHO won no industrial state in the Primaries - and all those states he lost are blue collar-union-Hillary supporters. I'd love to take B Hussien to a Navajo Reservation in South Dakota and parade him in front of the Tribal Leaders whose tribe members are over 70% current or in-active USMC and Army Vets...Hey Boys...Come on out and meet Hussein!
In the ONLY POLL that anyone should look at - Most Likely To Vote For - BHO loses to JMac by over 20 points.
However, this is an interesting election. You have a candidate whose Party is un-electable (BHO/Democrats) vs a candidate that is not electable (JMac) until he chose Palin...thank God!
This is what the Rep Party is doing and its a great tactic. When in 96, it was seen that Dole was going to lose to Clinton, the RNC pulled all of its money, effort, and ads into House and Senate races. Thus, the House and Senate were secured. Today we have the exact opposite...the House and Senate are a wash for the Democrats. (Bank on the Republicans losing both. Get it out of your system and get over it now. Its going to happen) The RNC is and will pour all of its money and effort into McCain for President. That is the key...not the House and Senate...the Oval Office!
McCain is going to back into the White House without lifting a finger. Since Mid-June, everytime BHO opens his mouth, his numbers fall.
Sursum Corda - Excellent Post and Excellent Blog...it's been too long since my last visit.
