They don't want to give their paltry remuneration for their good works to a charity that might not spend it right.
They want to give all our money to the government, who can give it to those who really need it. After all, Big Brother knows best!
This has been an ongoing deal for years. The libs always claim to be the people of compassion and caring for the poor yet whenthe numbers come in an the charitable giving is calculated as well a volunteer work, libs show little or no participation.
While conservatives give and them give more. Yet we are called the evil uncompassionate hate mongors.
Libs need to take a good look in the mirror.
Ken is right, I've read this before, but it's always good to post on it again.
The left pretends to care so much about hypocrisy when it comes to preachers who themselves commit sin, but have no problem lecturing others on the need for compassion while practicing so little of it themselves.

Mike, remember that political cartoon I published about the diet of Liberal Democrats: wine and quiche preferably paid with someone's else's money.
Liberals are quite willing to spend everyone's money to make themselves feel good, but are loathe to actually part with their own money.
By making them feel good about stealing other peoples money, it supports the larger goal of making the state the primary force for everything. Which in turn reduces humans to mere cogs in the statist machine.

Republicans have alway's been more Generous.
We are the first ones who get hit up by the Police association, and every single Republican running for office in all 50 States.
We donate coats and blankets to "Warmth For Winter",
We donate Blood.
We give and we donate to the Goodwill and Salvation Army then the Salvation Army again at Christmas.
And that's just regular people.
Big Business gives BILLIONS away every year to charity. And every body has something bad to say about big business like when "Michelle Obama" said to a bunch of young ladies "Dont Go Into The Corporate World", how oppressive was that?
Not only does big business have ALL the jobs that pay nicely, but they take alot of thier money that they profit from all year and donate it to charity. But NO Dont go into the Corprate America. Why didnt Michelle Obama just say "We want you to get educated and work at McConalds all your life"? PFFT
And then Barack and Hillary UGH!

This didn't surprise me at all either since the most avaricious LOVE being republican since the party makes sure they get paid! After all, when you have the largest corporations receiving massive tax breaks and corporate welfare, and where CEO's are reaping obscene annual salaries after laying off employees after outsourcing to China or India, I guess the 'guilt' sort of sets in.

If you have read any of the studies on this subject you would know that the small givers, even poorer Republicans tend to donate to charity more than their liberal counterparts.

My genuine feelings is who cares how much anybody gives - just as long as those who need it receive it!
To give you another point - THAT was my concern when I attended the MMMarch years ago. I saw thousands of dollars waived, but was wondering how anyone would account for it. Well, lo and behold, it is a fact that it never reached the intended destination. This was why I've never attended another such event!
