Ok, so Obama wants to find a way to "help" us adjust to the gas prices? Does this mean across-the board tax cuts? Something to unfetter us, remove the bonds that government places on us?
Somehow, I think I just answered my own question. Why do I have a feeling that his idea has something to do with gas ration cards for the poor?

Mike, Toad: you both seem to have a need to state that the politician you disagree with is getting some benefit (directly or through family) from the gas price spike.
Perhaps if we could work on solutions rather than screaming about who's going to benefit most, we'd have already solved this and I could afford to fill my tank.

Obama didn't object to the high price of fuel, only that the increase wasn't gradual. He still supports the high prices.
How does he intend to put more money in my pocket while at the same time taking an ever increasing amount out in taxes?

The only thing that will improve the situation with the oil prices is for everyone to call their representatives and tell them we're coming to DC and we'll be looking for them for the trial. Everyone will be assigned a representative and senator to bring forward when the beheadings begin. Their bank accounts and campaign treasuries and real estate holding will be alotted equally among those that show up. Works every time it's tried.

Wimps, huh? Well, sorry to say you can only "push us out of the way" electorally, that's the way democracy works. You have to persuade, you have to convince. Every moment you spend talking to each other making yourselves feel better by talking about Obama's "Muslim relatives in the oil business" or other such Rovian Foxish old-style politics, is one less moment you've spent trying to win an independent or uncommitted person to your cause.

We're not talking taking the profits of companies and people that have earned them and provided a service. We are talking about taking the ill gotten gains of a dishonest and criminal oraganization that has seated itself at the public trough and proceeded to help them selves to things to which they do not belong. The socialists in congress have made it so business and the American are suffering from there over regulation and over taxation. This is not the American way. Now, if you want to start naming the connections to the Bush family and companies like Halliburton, the families connection with the Saudi Royal family,Exxon, Chevron, Enron and their connection to the energy sector in general, I will be glad to do so. For instance, Rice has an oil tanker named after her.
