-15, Lows Keep Getting LOWER!

Oh my God, Mike. I am completely floored by this and so very, very happy with his choice. Bold of him. I feel 100% better about voting for him.

Gravatar Hi Mike,
Great post... I'm really finding it hard to get anything done today. I can't stop thinking about it.
Blessings

Gravatar Can you imagine how her parents must feel? wow!

Gravatar Sarah Palin is quoted:

'When oil and gas prices went up so dramatically and the state revenues followed with that increase, I sent a large share of that revenue directly back to the people of Alaska.'

Except...

The Alaska state constitution claims common heritage rights of ownership of oil and other minerals for the people of the state as a whole. Citizen dividend checks are distributed every year in Alaska out of the interest payments to an oil royalties deposit account called the Alaska Permanent Fund (APF) created in 1976 after oil was discovered on the North Slope. The APF is a public trust fund - a diversified stock, bond and real estate portfolio - into which are deposited the oil royalties received from the corporations which extract the oil from the lands of Alaska. The first citizen dividend check from the interest of the APF was issued in 1982 and was for $1000 per every person for everyone in Alaska who had resided in the state for at least one year. Annual citizen dividends have been issued every year since then, for a total of more than $23,000 per person.

No need to thank me.

Gravatar Hey Mike - I share your sentiments and those of your other readers. I am going to send your blog url to a bunch of my friends so they can get more info on Sarah and see your pictures. What a day it's been and what a brilliant move. I was trying like heck to get myself psyched to work for the ticket in the next important weeks; it hasn't been easy. But now the energizing factor has been handed to us and the enthusiasm will be natural.
Now we just need to find a Campaign HQ for the Bluffton area...any ideas?

Gravatar Mike,
Have not been here in a while since there was little to cheer about.

With Palin on the ticket things are definitelly looking up. She is the real deal and has been my first choice for vp for more than a year no matter who ended up as top billing.

I have a very hard time understanding this ray of common sense in this presidential race but I will enjoy it while it lasts.

Gravatar Dawn said: "I was trying like heck to get myself psyched to work for the ticket in the next important weeks; it hasn't been easy. But now the energizing factor has been handed to us and the enthusiasm will be natural.
"

Ditto, ditto Dawn!

Kevin: Indeed Palin is the "real deal" and you know she's not someone whose life story is concocted for political benefit.

Gravatar WOW! She's definitely RESPLENDENT!!!

Gravatar I like her, now she has to train her sites on vinegar Joe.

Gravatar I can't thank John McCain enough (bless him) for undercutting his message about Sen. Obama's experience.

Palin makes Obama look like an elder statesman! LOL!

And last March, McCain himself solemnly pronounced to the media that he would very carefully select his VP with the promise that his selection would be such that he/she could step in and lead this country.

Not only do the American people know who Palin is, John McCain had to read her name from a scrap of paper as he introduced her! He had met her only once. ONCE.

No matter how much lipstick you put on this cynical choice, the American people see it for what it is. A pander, a desperate pander, for Hillary's supporters.

Thank you John McCain for making Sen. Obama's next few months easier.

Thank you.

PS A friend of mine's mother was the mayor of a city of 10,000 not too far from me, and she ran an independent grocery store before that. With those qualifications, why didn't McCain choose her????

Gravatar That should be not only do the American people NOT know who Palin is...but that is patently evident.

A perky, gutsy hockey mom who wants to keep the US dependent on oil and who hopes to attract pro-choice Hillary PUMAs?

Oh yeah. That's going to work.

Gravatar Mike: I might be interested in a sign..., if McCain's name was in mouseprint. But I'm willing to give him a chance to earn my vote.

Shaw: Let's look at that current job experience:

18 months of executive experience vs 6 months legislative before jumping into the race.

Palin beat the incumbent governor in the GOP primary. Obama beat...Alan Keys (an f'ing toaster oven could beat Alan Keys).

You really want to continue whining about experience?

A perky, gutsy hockey mom who wants to keep the US dependent on oil and who hopes to attract pro-choice Hillary PUMAs?

Oh yeah. That's going to work.

When you're proven wrong, I'm just gonna laugh.

Gravatar 18 months of executive experience vs 6 months legislative before jumping into the race.

WRONG. You choose to ignore Obama's 7 years as a state legislator in the populous state of Illinois? You want to compare Palin's being the mayor of a city with 100 city employees to Obama's being a state legislator? Really? You and McCain are truly dishonest and desperate to go down that silly comparison path.

Palin beat the incumbent governor in the GOP primary. Obama beat...Alan Keys (an f'ing toaster oven could beat Alan Keys).

You want to compare Palin beating an incumbent governor of a sparsely populated state to newcomer Obama's beating Hillary Clinton and her 18 MILLION followers? Go ahead, make my day.

You really want to continue whining about experience?

No, my friend. I'll let Karl Rove do it for me:

Gravatar Patrick: It amazes me that our Dem friends are so very, VERY foolish as to keep harping on Palin's experience.

Don't they know it simply draws even MORE attention to the lack of experience of the man at the top of THEIR ticket?

And of course the women voters already stung by what they see as unfair criticism of Hillary are going to get even madder if they see the same thing happening again to Palin.

So the Shaw Obstetrics of this world can keep it up. They are only digging a hole for themselves!

Gravatar Earlier this month, Karl Rove repeatedly argued that Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine (D) would not be “capable” of being Vice President. He complained that “he’s been a governor for three years” and said Kaine was mayor of only the “the 105th largest city in America,” referring to Kaine’s tenure as mayor of Richmond, VA. “It’s not a big town,” he quipped.

Kaine was indeed mayor of the ‘the 105th largest city in America.’ While there, he governed nearly 200,000 people and managed a bureaucracy of over 8,000 employees. By contrast, Palin was mayor of Wasilla, AK, a town of just over 8,000 people that currently employs just over 100 individuals and — contrary to Rove’s claim — didn’t even make it into the 10 largest cities in AK while she was mayor.

Yesterday, however, Rove argued just the opposite with regard to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R). He explained on Fox News that Palin was a good choice as McCain’s vice presidential nominee because she was “mayor of the second largest city in Alaska”:

ROVE: She’s a populist, she’s an economic and a social conservative, she’s a reformer, she took on the incumbent governor of the state Frank Murkowski — Republican — beat him in the primary, won an upset in the general election. She’s a former mayor. She’s the mayor of, I think, the second largest city in Alaska before she ran for governor.

Hilarious! Just freakingly dishonestly hilarious!

John McCain has indeed undercut his claim that he puts country first.

Gravatar Nice work Shaw on the Rove comment. Personally I can see all the good sides of this choice for the GOP, not the least is that it seems to have energized the conservative base.

I just wish some folks in the GOP could at least acknowledge that she doesn't reach the threshold of experience that McCain himself, or his surrogates were saying just a few months ago would be indispensable in a VP pick.

If the shoe was on the other foot and a DEM nominated someone like this [a life story that excites the base, ideas and accomplishments that are in line with your political views, but a small town mayor and less than two years experience as governor of a sparsely populated state] the howls of derision would be equally loud.

But that I guess, is politics.

Gravatar So shaw your big argument is the person who's job is basicly to sit around and wait for the president to die isn't ready because she has about the same experience as the guy you support to be President....lol

That's rich you must be smoking dope with art

Gravatar Excellent pick by McCain that has the Dems spinning. Palin brings a fantastic dynamic to the McCain campaign and the election.

This VP pick may very well have put the icing on the cake for a McCain election in 08!

Gravatar Mark Styne had these comments, I loved them:

First, Governor Palin is not merely, as Jay describes her, "all-American", but hyper-American. What other country in the developed world produces beauty queens who hunt caribou and serve up a terrific moose stew? As an immigrant, I'm not saying I came to the United States purely to meet chicks like that, but it was certainly high on my list of priorities. And for the gun-totin' Miss Wasilla then to go on to become Governor while having five kids makes it an even more uniquely American story. Next to her resume, a guy who's done nothing but serve in the phony-baloney job of "community organizer" and write multiple autobiographies looks like just another creepily self-absorbed lifelong member of the full-time political class that infests every advanced democracy....

Third, real people don't define "experience" as appearing on unwatched Sunday-morning talk shows every week for 35 years and having been around long enough to have got both the War on Terror and the Cold War wrong. (On the first point, at the Gun Owners of New Hampshire dinner in the 2000 campaign, I remember Orrin Hatch telling me sadly that he was stunned to discover how few Granite State voters knew who he was.) Sarah Palin and Barack Obama are more or less the same age, but Governor Palin has run a state and a town and a commercial fishing operation, whereas (to reprise a famous line on the Rev Jackson) Senator Obama ain't run nothin' but his mouth. She's done the stuff he's merely a poseur about. Post-partisan? She took on her own party's corrupt political culture directly while Obama was sucking up to Wright and Ayers and being just another get-along Chicago machine pol (see his campaign's thuggish attempt to throttle Stanley Kurtz and Milt Rosenberg on WGN the other night).

Gravatar Nice try to all the McCain VP supporters.

We'll let the 38 million people who tuned into see Obama's speech Thursday (larger audience than the Super Bowl or the Olympics, BTW) and the 80,000 people who filled the stadium decide.

The more you over-reach to justify this insane choice, the more people understand what a colossal joke it is.

Moose-hunting beauty queen?

Gravatar Hey Mike sink your teeth into this article

http:// article.nationalreview.co...TllYmQyOTY0ODY=

Gravatar Liberal Dave asked: "If the shoe was on the other foot and a DEM nominated someone like this..."

Dave, Dems DID nominate someone like this? You're weren't you one of those 38 million who tuned in to see Obama crowned in his temple to his ego?

And as for Shaw Obstetrics suggestion that we let those 38 million decide, sorry chickie... They'll have to wait their turn in the polling booth along with everyone else. I realize the arrogant presumption you poseurs affect think that it gives you the right to overturn the democratic process with a couple of Nuremburg rallies but it ain't going to happen as long as their are Caribou hunting, Moose stewing real Americans like Sarah Palin around.

And isn't that what's got you in such an obvious panty twist? You know she is the genuine all American article and standing next to your boys she kicks ass.

P.S. Troll, thanks for the link to the entire Steyn article. He's right on target as usual.

http:// corner.nationalreview.com...WZkNjY5YjFlMmY=

Gravatar Suppose she's gone over the job description yet?

Seemed to throw her during the Kudlow interview.

Mush!

Gravatar This has turned out to be a great week! the more Palin bashing I see from the dem side the more I enjoy it. They are truly honestly scared.

It is not that she will bring in hillary voters (she will, but not that many) it is not that she makes Obama's ticket look bad (which she does, otherwise people would not be coming out of the woodwork to give you a scientific explanation of why she doesnt)

No, not at all. The reason that Palin is such a great choice is that she is the real deal. An honest to goodness republican woman with uncompromising republican values and that has not yet been corrupted by politics. After such a dismal Republican primary there are reasons to cheer. She is going to (has already?) re-energize the republican base, that is what she is about

Gravatar And this just in over the cable and network news:

"John McCain was aiming to make history with his pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and historians say he succeeded.

Presidential scholars say she appears to be the least experienced, least credentialed person to join a major-party ticket in the modern era."

Gravatar No, not at all. The reason that Palin is such a great choice is that she is the real deal. An honest to goodness republican woman with uncompromising republican values and that has not yet been corrupted by politics. After such a dismal Republican primary there are reasons to cheer. She is going to (has already?) re-energize the republican base, that is what she is about.

If the American people are so in love with Republican values and ideals, why do 80+% of them say this country, which has been under the influence of Republican ideals and values for 8 years, is going in the WRONG direction.

Palin is more of the same WRONG direction. Not for the base, that's for sure, but you guys are known as the 20 percenters. The 20 percent who think the past 8 years have been boffo and want another 4 more just like them.

Gravatar Your lefty commenters are LOSING it, Mike. LOL!

It's pretty fun to watch and is a great illustration of how desperate they have become.

Gravatar Mike, they are screaming so loudly and at such a high pitch is because the petard they created is piercing them in a most delicate area.

Gov. Sarah Palin is everything the Dems and NOW have been telling women to be for the past 30+years. Unfortunately she is a Republican and as such a heretic who must be destroyed.

The Democrats can't handle the truth. Now the Republicans have an experienced and august leader in Sen. McCain with a darn good Number One in Palin. Yes she is light on foreign policy experience, but she is the VP and is expected to learn from the President such matters while also dealing with the Senate. The Democrats have the Great Hope of Sen. Obama with no seasoning as the top spot and a career plagerising politician who has spent more time in the Senate than McCain for second banana.

In all honesty, Gov. Sarah Palin has about as much experience as that other female VP candidate: Rep. Geraldine Ferraro. So this avenue of attack is very dangerous for the Democrats to use. In 1984 it did not matter because Reagan buried Mondale. The VP debates were footnotes.

And Mike, hope this post clears things up about my previous post http://annapuna.blogspot.com/200...ns-go- wild.html

Now to sit back and listen to the wailing, sounds like victory.

Gravatar May I cross post this in its entirety? With credit to you, of course!

Gravatar I think Kevin summed it up. With his pick of Palin McCain put aside nearly all the doubts that conservatives had for his candidacy and are now entusiastic and energized.

You can hear the wailing and knashing of libtards like Shaw Obstetrics who felt they had successfully manipulated conservative discontent as they did in 2006.

For all the Dems high fives at their modern day Nuremburg rally, they know that if the conservative base is energized THEY LOSE!

P.S. Anna, thanks for clearing that up:

http://annapuna.blogspot.com/200...ns-go- wild.html

P.P.S. Jungle Mom: Of course. No need to even ask!

Gravatar Anna-

Not surprising you don't recognize glee

Palin is perfect. This may well be the high point for the guns, babies and creation theory crowd. Jesus and dinosaurs is a tough sell in this day and age and I doubt there as many buyers as McSame hopes.

I have no doubt Palin will show Biden a thing or two in their debate. Until they move past the moose stew recipes.

Gravatar "Arthur" your snarky, disdainful, condescending and elitist dismissal of the views of Americans not like yourself is typical of Obama liberals.

The problem is, your warped understanding and appreciation for those American values you so glibly deride will only serve to drive thousands more to reject Obama and vote for McCain Palin.

Like Shaw Obstetrics, you are your own worst enemy. If you were wiser, you would know when to keep silent.

Gravatar Heh. Heh

She is old enough and she is a US citizen.

Other than that she brings nothing

Sorry Mike but their is nothing 'elitist' about expecing just a bit more from a candidate than adding 'creation theory' to public school curricula.

McSame has outdone himself with this bit of folly. Not only is he saddled with a poorly prepared (VP? No sure what the job is) and poorly educated (yup. Yup) running mate, he removes his ability to criticize Obama for same

McCain is Bob Dole without a brain

Gravatar "Arthur" your comment was nothing but the loaded smears and slurs that your side substitutes for reasoned political discourse.

You have nothing else to offer.

Is it any wonder Flopping Aces grew tired of your bile?

Gravatar Yup, Palin is a huge plus for the McCain campaign.

She's conservative, smart, articulate, "easy on the eyes", and although she hasn't been in office long has more solid accomplishments than Barack Obama. She also has a winning personality, always key in politics.

All of which scares the libs to death and is why they loath her and women like her.

It's risky, yes. She will have little room for error. Anything that doesn't come out just right will be magnified by the msm.

But overall an inspired choice, and if she works out like I think she will she could just be the thing that propels us to victory.

Gravatar What I like about Sarah is she's a child of the west. She is independent, can think for herself without 300 advisers, she can take care of herself, can do hard physical and mental work, can and has worked through pain with broken bones.

Sarah Palin is tough as nails.

Gravatar 'Reasoned political discourse'.

As if.

You really hate it when the target is not of your choosing. That's all. Far worse than my comments about Palin & Senator Maverick is posted here daily concerning Obama & Clinton.

'Reasoned discourse'?

Thanks for the chuckle.

Gravatar hi Mike, been awhile, I've been away. Anyway, just putting in my two cents from the left, to say that my initial reaction is it is an inspired choice, and my fellow progressives underestimate Ms. Palin at their peril.

Having said that however, I'm not sure how much effect VP picks ever have on these elections, and much still depends on where the economy is by November, or whatever unexpected dramatic world events may occur before the election.

Obama still wins.

Happy Labor Day, everyone. Hug a union member! (that includes me, but also Ms. Palin's hubby, too, so I hear).

Gravatar Thanks Phillip.

And you are correct in that conventional wisdom says that V.P. picks don't alter the overall race that much.

The choice of Palin does however change the dynamics dramatically on the GOP side and I'll say more about that in a post later today.

And yes, Happy Labor Day!

P.S. "Arthur" if you want to know what "reasoned discourse" is ask Phillip. The contrast between you two is striking. Phillip makes sense, even if I don't always agree. You make a fool of yourself.

Gravatar Early this AM I saw an interview of a talk radio show host from Alaska who described herself as a "progressive". She said that the most liberal-thinking in her state agree with Sarah Palin's "accomplishments more than the old line conservatives do." When pressed by one of the interviewers to give an example of what she was referring to - this blonde bimbo* pointed out the "revenues" returned to the citizens of Alaska. (That money was OVER AND ABOVE THE USUAL annual citizen's dividend checks, as referred to in "Arthurstone's" post above.) Ha-ha-As if progressives don't want to tax the socks off you and the conservatives are against giving back the people's money directly to them...I believe she is a very confused young woman and I was disappointed that 1. Fox chose her to talk to about what the average Republican in Alaska thinks about this VP choice and 2. That none of the 3 interviewers at Fox noticed how she turned around the rebate "facts" to make it seem like liberals want to give money back to all, no matter how rich or poor you are. Au contraire, that would be the conservatives And *, I can call another woman a blonde bimbo because: a. I am blonde and b. I once wrote for a paper who referred to me as a bimbo in print after I left it...I took it as a compliment.

Gravatar I can't imagine anyone calling you a bimbo Dawn. You don't fit that stereotype at all. You fit the mold of a Sarah Palin Republican: bright, conservative, attractive and likeable.

Gravatar I am THRILLED!!!

McCain came through with an excellent choice!

I Love her, I Love her, I Love her!!!

Now we have a great ticket!

So long Obama!

Gravatar BTW Mike I'm stealing your video

Gravatar II couldn't steal your video it wouldn't let me :-(

Could you send me the code for your video?

I got one off YouTube with some ass talking at the end of it. Ugh

Gravatar Good morning, Mike.

I'm not going to argue with any liberal comments here. They are coming across as pathetic and scared... probably because they are. They ought to be! Palin is more qualified to run for President than Obama is, and she's only the vp pick. LOL!

I'm absolutely ecstatic about McCain's choice. The more the liberals try to trash her the more desperate they appear. Oh, did I mention "pathetic"? yes, I did. Pathetic and desperate. It's all good!

Gravatar "You fit the mold of a Sarah Palin Republican: bright, conservative, attractive and likeable."

Wow, Thanks Mike, That's one of the best compliments I've ever rec'd!! Esp. well timed in light of what is going on with the GBRC these days - a nightmare for a private conversation.
Anyway - did you get the Palin vs. Obama Comparison chart I sent you via email? It's really good but no link - I'd love for your readers to see it.

Gravatar http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.c...s-barack-obama/

Just found the link to Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama. Enjoy. Be sure to read some of the comment as well, they add a few more pluses to Palin's side

Gravatar Dawn: Thanks for that link:

http://www.audacityofhypocrisy.c...s-barack-obama/

It's clear that Sarah Palin has more qualification to be Vice President than Obama does to be President.

P.S. Sorry to hear things are still bad with the GBRC. Must be a bunch of Lindsey Graham supporters in there.
