It goes beyond drilling for oil because in the end Democrats have no real plans for the future and they are running out of excuses..

I love the Tony Snow picture at the top. Thanks, Mike!
We're going to drill somehow, some way, in spite of Congress and in spite of the Enviro-nuts. We will do it because we have to do it. There's absolutely no way around it.

Johnny: Unlike energy, when it comes to excuses the Democrats have an inexhaustible supply.
And they are never held accountable for getting things so messed up.
If our side would just run election ads all day long on this one topic we could turn things around.
But for some reason, our side doesn't like to play hardball.

This could very well be the defining issue in this years election as the truth about Democrats and their hold on oil and the economy continues to come out.
Their stance is polar opposite now from that of the American people and the backlash at the polls may have some significant changes in Congress come November and usher McCain into the White House.
It also proves once and for all that the Dems, who claim to be the party for the people, actually are the party who continually hurt the people because of their socialist policies and their elitise additude!
Great post Mike!

Regarding the idiot who said that $8.00 a gal was good news because it would "force" us to change. (I think a lot of libs think that way).
Rush brought up a great point. How in the HECK will we fly if we get totally off oil? How are they going to get a plane in the air with biofuels? These democrat enviro's are complete idiots! They can't win in November in any way shape or form. A nightmare scenario would be Obama backed up by a complete liberal take over of the house and senate.

Off the coast here in California, the field mapping has already been done years ago and the equipment is still in place. The State only needs to drop the restrictions.
Incidently, the 1969 "oil spill" in Santa Barbara was not from the drill rig. The leak was from a nearby fault line rupture which are more frequent than rig accidents. There are operating rigs off S. Barb that were operating in 1969 that have not leaked a drop that are still pumping. The whole arguement for not drilling is bogus.

MA, this is a great post. It will fall on deaf ears...or ears that have index fingers firmly stuffed in them while the fingers' owners hum a happy tune to drown out the truth.
BTW, next-to=last paragraph..."oil hits $8 a barrel" should be "gas hits $8 a gallon."

In the time it would take to get that oil we could be running our hybrid cars on Natural Gas or Hydrogen vehicles. I didn't know you worked for the Oil lobby.

Toadbat: Read the article next time before you make your comment.
One to two years to get new oil to market.
You won't be driving your hydrogen car anytime soon.

Wrong.
You can lease a Honda hydrogen car right now if you live in California where there are fueling stations.
