It's very extraordinary to read these comic chapters. It was a bit hard on start to read the English of it but thanks to Photoshop I managed to see and read it easily.
They didn't mention the exploding in 1993 too in the Twin Towers.
I'd rather U.S to be the world police instead of people who support terror.
It's very interesting to look closer on the propaganda stuff.
Maybe Mark Twain was a real peace person, but considering the fact he didn't live in the world we live today, it's completely something else. Today's world is different than 100 years ago.

If you didn't have the pictures on here to prove it I would think this couldn't be possible.
A couple of months ago my husband had one of his youth from the youth group over to our house. He saw that I had several pictures of Bush up and made some negative comment. I basically told him that yes, I was a huge supporter of Bush. This ended up leading to a pretty long debate between the 2 of us on Bush and the war.
This was a solid, Christian kid who had been completely indoctrinated by the public school and by the news media. During the course of the debate I asked him where he was getting his news and of course he said CNN. I told him that was his first problem. He was totally convinced that Fox News was the only network that was biased and that it was biased to the right.
He was shocked that my kids thought Bush was a great president and that Clinton wasn't. He said aside from Clinton's moral failures he had done all these great things. I asked him what? And he didn't have an answer on what those great things were. He was upset that he felt I was indoctrinating my kids but what he didn't realized is he had been so brainwashed with leftist propaganda that he couldn't see things objectively at all. It made me sad that the public school had done such a thorough job of indoctrinating him.

The indoctrination of our youth into self-hate for our country is disgusting. Just send 'em off to Palestinian and Hamas schools...what's the difference?

I would not let my children use this book and I would be having a few administrators for lunch. Then I would write a Muzzie hate coloring book and demand they use it.
This BS is what drives students to show up with automatic weapons.
Let's all write to Bella Pelosi and see if she agrees with the book.

I feel my blood pressure climbing upon reading this posting.
We all know that SF is a looney bin. But what begins in CA usually drifts eastward in about five years. I've long noticed that trend in education.
From the web page for this piece-of-propaganda comic book/textbook:
Addicted to War is also endorsed by Veterans For Peace, Susan Sarandon, Noam Chomsky, Ron Kovic, Martin Sheen, Cindy Sheehan, Dr. Helen Caldicott, Ramsey Clark, Ed Asner, Patch Adams, Medea Benjamin, Woody Harrelson, Kathy Kelly, Kris Kristofferson, S. Brian Willson, Michael Parenti, Father Roy Bourgeois, William Blum, Fernando Suarez, Blase Bonpane and many others.
Isn't that just a charming list?
About Mark Twain....I note the book doesn't mention some of his observations about the Middle East.

The funny part is it starts by complaining about Manifest Destiny and how the original colonies were on the ATLANTIC ocean.
Well why are you people still living on the west coast? I would suggest that anyone that wrote or is promoting the book would have to leave the west coast. Are they not just touting the manifest destiny horn by continuing to live there?
Thank god they won't listen because the last thing I want is San Fran moving closer. I already have enough lefty problems in Maryland.

Mike, all I can say is, 'Holy CRAP!' I'm speechless and horrified.
LMC - I have had some of those conversations with young adults, too. It's very frustrating for me but the truth is - they have no frigging idea what it is they're talking about. I try to be nice - yet unequivocal - about how ignorant they are. I do challenge them and question them - it makes for an interesting few minutes...

Exactly. An endless line of folks hatched as newly minted consumers.
The liberals you whine about in the academy are so few in number as to not even really matter. A few profs in the literature/humanities departments are hardly a threat to the republic.
What are you so frightened of anyway?
Afraid a few more folks might question the party line? Not enough ditto heads for you?

Yes indeed. The influence of leftists at our universities is hugely overrated by your side.
One example. If they had as much influence as you suggest the streets would be full of protesters against the occupation of Iraq.
But we don't see anything like that.
Do we Mike?

Yeah, I suppose all those "students" protesting in California came up with the idea themselves.
Did you overlook the comic book being approved as a "texbook" in SF?
Or do you suppose that was written by conservatives?
Did you overlook the Duke University professor who said conservative applicants would not be qualified to teach at Duke?
You really do make an ass of yourself "Arthur."

Hello Mike:
Great post! It really shows the lunacy of the left, particularly in San Francisco. Now you guys know what I have put up with for years!
It is utterly disgusting to think that this piece of communist nonsense would be used as a textbook. Textbooks are SUPPOSED to present unbiased information, teach a person how to think logically AND DRAW THEIR OWN CONCLUSIONS!!!!

Mahndisa: It would be one thing if this bit of crap was also presented with opposing views.
But we both know that the only opposing view will be the teacher saying something like "And there are people who disagree... most of them probably own stock in defense industries."
This "text" simply illustrates a larger cultural problem. The left promotes similar ideas through every lever of cultural transmission at their disposal. It's the kind of brainwashing that we see demonstrated every day by the moonbat lefties who comment here.

As the guy who wrote the comic which has your knickers in such knots wrote:
Frank Dorrel you can't make someone believe something -- you can offer them the information and that's what we are doing here."
Scary to guys like you Mike when the conventional wisdom is challenged. Something which should be happening an awful lot more in the academy.

If San Francisco has reduced textbooks to comic books then lets use Art Spiegelman's comic Maus to teach about the Holocaust/Shoah.
That comic is just aweful. If its supposed to cover US history, as a comic is want to do, it covers the subject very broadly and very badly.

It isn't history they are teaching, but blame America attitudes.
Since when are schools supposed to teach political beliefs?

Mike wondered:
Since when are schools supposed to teach political beliefs?
Since at least I was a child and textbooks told an most unreal history of the US with only the merest mention of slavery, extermination of Native Americans and little discussion of emigrants and their struggles in this country.
He continued:
"Arthur" So I take it you are fine with creationism being taught to instill thinking?
Not in the least. A competing political/historic viewpoint being offered for discussion is one thing. But non-science being peddled as science is quite another. Surely even you can grasp that.
But upon reflection I can imagine your being very happy with the new testament (sorry, 'intelligent design') being taught in schools.

Only in your dreams Mike.
Our universities are crammed with courses in all disciplines furthering the message of capitalism and the free markets.
A few sociology, English, psychology professors notwithstanding the academy is a hotbed of conformity and struggles endlessly maintaining the status quo.

I noticed that our 'courageous' commentator Mike didn't bother trying to refute the FACTS in said comic.
It was NOT the Communists who started the Vietnam war after all, but Eisenhower who reneged on his promise of free elections for that nation after we took over that part of the French Indo-Chinese empire.
You tell people they get a vote if they go along and remove their troops, then get caught lying, they are apt to do something violent about it.
