This is fair dinkum. There is plenty of time for taking pictures -- even next week, for God' sake.

That is one of my pet peeves, Paul. I always advise the bride that she should have her photographer take as many photos pre-wedding as possible and limit the time for photos after the ceremony to 45 minutes, incl. travel time to the reception. To do otherwise is an affront to your guests!

The last weddings I've been to have had the patrons eat immediately. They had a reception line just ourside of the sanctuary.
At our sons wedding the pics were taken ahead of time and the Bride and Groom released and greeted each row in turn. It was neat.

hehe I hear ya Paul! We took all of our posed wedding shots before the ceremony so after we were married our guests only had about a 5 minute wait until the food was unveiled. Everyone was very pleased, and my husband and I got to attend the cocktail hour (since pics were done) and greet everyone.

A comedian would be really great. Three-legged races prolly not. A lot of times there is a cocktail/hors d'oerve (and I can't spell that) hour. At my brother in law's they had us hanging out in a grand room with grand food and drink and then a guy came ringing a bell and we all herded in. That was nice.

So I guess I'm saying I'd prefer the pre-eating eating to a comedian.

I'd go for the bagpipes.

I am SO sorry you had to wait to eat! I am a wedidng planner and the guests at my Saturday wedding can tell you they had fruit/cheese and punch before a very nice dinner buffet. AND, pics only took 20 minutes. The days of 1.5 hours of photos post-ceremony are over! You do have some fun, different ideas! Hopefully, the next wedding you attend will be better...

You know Paul, that is really a good idea. Anything but setting there watching the food get cold.

I agree.
I'd be happy with a yodeling concert or even an annoying mime.
That in between time is pure torture.
Good idea, Paul.
Could you pass those little sandwiches, please?
I'm getting kind of hungry.
Best wishes to your niece and her groom!!!!

I think you have a good idea Paul. Some entertainment while you wait would be nice and certainly make the time go by much faster!

I am told that the photographer now does some of the more formal photos ahead of the wedding day which cuts down on the waiting time.
Unfortunately, I am one of those photographers that took much too much time and made people wait. Guess that is why I decided not to make it a career. LOL
I think a Reception Host is a fantastic idea. Maybe, the wedding planner will pick up on it.
