The fact that Obama is giving the cold shoulder to Fox News over that "madrassa incident" shows he has the stones to be president as far as I'm concerned. It would be the "safe" thing to let it go, but the more admirable to take some sort of stand. It's a small thing, but it could be the beginning of a new type of politics (at least as they relate to hostile, hating media types). The Prez of Fox News (supposedly) called him and apologized. That's pretty unheard of.

Yo HD!
No doubt - I was going to mention the 'Madrasha Incident' as well as the conservative media's ridiculous attempt to bastardize Obama's name (Barack Hussein Obama) with other radical Muslims involved in terror (despite the fact that all three names are family names - Barack & Obama from his father and Hussein from grandfather).
I agree that his response to the Madrasha ruckus is a good indication of how he's not going to leave any shot unanswered and answered in such a way as to shed light on how dubious or unscrupulous the sources are.
I also liked the fact that he didn't go for the red herring of the story coming from Hillary's camp and called it what it was "a right-wing hit job'. One thing's for sure if Smooth decides to jump in - the Presidential campaign season won't be boring

My Boo hooked me up with Barack's first book and it took me about two days to get through it. It is enjoyable and difficult to put down. Barack gives me real hope for the future of politics and we need a lot of hope after the last six years of nonsense.

Do you wonder at all why whites feel comfortable with Obama, just like they felt comfortable with Powell? I do, and it makes me uneasy. Most things that go down smooth end up biting you in the butt later.

Yo DC,
I think these days no candidate can be successful by crafting a message that just appeals to a narrow demographic - in both Obama and Powell's case, I think part of their appeal to northsiders is their wider view on the issues and their recognition that you can't solve broad issues if you have a narrow focus.
With specific regard to Smooth Barack, Debra Mathis had a tight commentary on BlackAmericaWeb.com that addresses how southsiders should approach his candidacy:
