This is one of the most sad, atrocious stories I've heard about in a while. I'm glad you are bringing light to this and realizing just how unimportant the Hollywood and sports buzz is.
Yes, on the surface things seem better but I am frequently reminded just how fu#@ed up things still are. For instance, when on a plane recently and having a complete stranger (northside middle-aged woman) start up a conversation that included her telling me how she regrets her recent move from Minnesota to North Carolina because "the blacks here take such advantage of the whites." Now why the hell would a complete stranger tell me that bogus ass nonsense? Why???? because she's an ignorant idiot who doesn't have a clue. I let her know that I didn't appreciate her comment, that I completely and adamantly disagreed with her and suggested she might consider a history lesson. And I'm not talking the history I was taught - I'm talking real history such as Howard Zinn's "People's History".
Thanks again, Ty, for sharing this story. If we all do our part maybe some day we will live in a world where such hatred and horrendous treatment is eradicated.
