Yo TallGrrl!
Okay, okay - I'll give you Black Snake Moan so that brings homey up to 3 out of 400 movies. Yes - Samuel L. is a WORKING Black actor whose been in so many movies no one even notices that he's Black (which is a good thing). Homey's more scenery now - like that ubiquitous Times Square shot whenever a movie films in NYC or the ubiquitous Chicago River shot whenever a movie films in Chicago. It's in the movie but you've seen it so many times you don't even notice it...unless you're old Ty lookin' at Samuel L.'s a$$ for the 400th time...
Thanks for the holla homegirl!

You better hope he's not reading my site this week. I WILL drop dime on your location. You know I'm gonna defend him, the Man is my A.B.C. LOL
But like TallGrrl said, he is a working black actor. Not only that he is a TRUE actor. He didn't just fall into because he is rapper/singer. (No slam against Will Smith. I'm talking about those other chcckleheads)He paid his dues for years. Think about the black actors we have and then think about those who actually were out there hustling. Doing regional theater and small plays. Tiny little bit parts. Working a day job to pay the rent then running off to do an off off off off broadway play.
I have to give him mad respect for the 10-15 years he worked prior to his breakout role. That man earned the right to enunciate and holler.
Just like Morgan earned the right to show me his jacked up grill 4 feet high on a screen.
And while Larry didn't have to hustle like Samand Morgan, he was a child actor and worked his way up and earned the right to show me his acne scars 4 feet high on a screen.
And we all know that Denzel put in the leg work too.

Yo Diva!
How'd I know I'd hear from you if I tried to throw Samuel L. under the bus!? And no you didn't crack on my boy Mor-Free's grill!! I finally caught homeboy in 'The Bucket List' over the holiday and he's smooth like always. He's getting to be a little bit like NYC scenery too with his narration but you just can't hate on that voice.
Got point on the 'payin' the dues' tip - remember when Larry Fish was playin' a cowboy on Peewee's Playhouse and Mor-free was 'Easy Reader' on the Electric Company? Those are some hard dues jack...

How about Fish in Cornbread, Earl, and Me?
"Shot that boy down like a dog!"
Yes, Easy Reader. Gotta give him props for that. And yes I cracked on his grill. He's got a mirror and a dental plan. But I still LUB me some Free.

Yo Diva!
Oh snap! No you didn't go all 'Cornbread, Earl and Me'! I loved that movie. That joint dropped back in the day when I was just starting to appreciate movies as more than a way to pass time. Good call!
