as you know Herman I used to live on the Statenlaan...a few doors away from Fredrik Hendrikslaan.....so you can imagine what these photographs do for me! I used to walk these places almost everyday when I lived in the Staten Kwartier...beautiful beautiful photos and it sounds like you had a great day...Of course I am somewhat different in that I love to sit around on the beach and watch people from close up (no appropriate distance for me)....or take a cup of coffee in one of the beach cafes with some bitterballen...oh yes....there is nothing like it!!!!!

Your beautiful pictures make me wish I could visit. I did not have a good idea of how beautiful your country is. I must get my Atlas out and see how close you are to Denmark. I would imagine the same beauty of the old buildings etc; and the new are similar.

Are you going to write a book or travelog? Your blog is certainly note worthy. I vote yes. Keep the pictures coming....I love them.

I enjoyed this post very much. You have so many wonderful places to visit. The aquarium is fascinating. I went to the Vancouver aquarium in Oct. and saw similar sights. That beach looks so lovely. Do people snorkel at this location? My husband and I love to snorkel and see tropical fish. We also like to visit IMAX.

In response to your question, you are correct, it is the Red River. However, very near by the two river, Assiniboine and Red, meet. That is why it is called The Forks. It use to be a trading place many, many years ago.
