I couldn't agree with you more.
I give Newt his due: he did a fabulous job galvanizing the Repubs for the '94 election. And I've always thought that had Newt been my history teacher in school, I would have not only learned history, I would have loved it, too.
So it's with a heavy heart when I read these things about him. I was also very disappointed in some of his personal problems.
I wish he'd just shut up.

The demeaning, debasing, undermining of this Presidency has worn the patience.
Some should know better, offering constuctive, reasoned, helpful criticism and guidance, instead of more grandstanding spectacles.
I feel they only encourage the unethical efforts of the corrupt opposition, exploiting issues for personal gain.
Just as Speaker Gingrich, John McCain has also embraced the cowardly, "Bush Administration Bungled The Job" theme...
Gingrich, McCain, and a number of Conservative Cynics, share this wimpy attempt to distance themselves from the Iraq Issue, with Hillary, Kerry, Edwards, and most Democrats who voted for the admirable Mission.
This type of unethical company should provide Newt Gingrich with great concern.
It seems Sen. McCain wishes to appease the Democrat Partisans, mostly in the MSM, by feeding President Bush and his Administration to the sharks, (while maintaining some overall support of the Policy).
I cannot see this, as anything but cowardly...
In doing so, McCain unwittingly smacks the Brave Men and Women who undertook this essential endeavor in Iraq as well, including many fine US Generals.
The Bush Administration has entrusted a number of fine Americans with this incredibly difficult, but worthy task in Iraq. They are listening.
Political opportunism isn't Leadership, and rarely leads to sound policy. Constructive insight is always welcome, and frustrations understood.
But we know, even the monstrous Terrorists are listening to these populist, poll driven, politicians.
