Just when I was wondering why the Homercat is eating too many Cheeseburgers in his personal paradise on Last.fm, you picked an easy menu item to sway this jury member. No doubt Cheap Trick are way under appreciated...Way too many people dropped their supersonic ball early. Stop This Game took the stellar vocal intro concept from Voices into the outer stratosphere of inner mind space, and was a fave of mine years ago when it was on the radio albeit briefly. This and the also out of print "One on One" LP represent the last of the good Trick era for me, and then they slowly succumbed to the dreaded Diane Warren-ification syndrome...and Zander's momentary flirtation with the weak balladeering sideline. This guy was the greatest screamer in the biz, and they tried to turn him into Peter Cetera just because he was from Chicago!
They also did themselves in by being the opener for shoddier acts, always playing second fiddle on the road. It kept them working steady, but sorta lost them some respect...I mean would Aerosmith or Journey open a show for Stone Temple Pilots or Everclear? Still an awesome live act of course, and I catch them whenever feasible within a few hundred miles.
