Right on. There are so many deserving bands that keep getting overlooked while some pretty lame bands get inducted. Cheap Trick, Kiss -- hell yeah. IMO The Monkees also deserve induction.
It's just classifications. Never understood why people care about that sort of childish facts. Same for the trophy things. Everbody's giving trophy for everything, everybody's putting classifications on everything. Blah blah blah. If you like something, music, movie, books, just loved it for yourself, or talk about it to people. Don't put classifications on it to make it a reference. When I was young, I had a dog walkin' on two feet when we asked to. So, we gave the dog a candy. It didn't mean the dog was the best in the world because he had candy. When people says Oh ! He had a grammy in 1995! Oh ! he was a Oscar nominee ! Oh! He's a hall of fame ! It makes me sick.
I agree with you Mario, about the need for trophys, but whilst they are there I think homer has a valid point about the description ie...ROCK AND ROLL, although may parents age group would say there should be no ROCK artists included and it should only include artists pre 1956!

Top to bottom I have to say that I'm agreeing with you. More precisely, you have a finer point that should not be glossed over - that bands are inducted before those that laid the foundation for others' success. What happened to pride and recognition?
That Alice has not been inducted is cause enough for a blindfold and a last cigarette. I'd like each nominee to fill out a form listing their influences - and have it published. Let's see what they themselves have to say.
Wouldn't it be sugary sweet to have someone get up to the podium, amile and refuse the honor because someone, like Alice, hasn't already been inducted? And then rant on about the selection process?

Each year the inductees seem to get more unreasonable
How can you have someone who maybe had a hit or two (CHIC) get in before someone who actually plays rock and roll and had a hand in shaping rock and roll to what it is now
Michael Jackson...Madonna...huge stars...sold lots of records...but they sure don't play rock n roll...how do the likes of them get in before say YES...Iron Maiden...Blue Oyster Cult etc etc
It's similar to this Hockey Hall of Fame and how long Glenn Anderson was passed over
Awards these days are just popularity contests...I don't even think they hold much water anymore except to those who received them...how can you accept something you know full well someone else deserves much more?
It's all about the money not the pioneers of rock and roll
