There is a car made in Eugene for $20k that can get you to the East Coast and back on less than a ten spot using natural gas.
There is an electric car that has a 200 mile range and can reach 200 mph built in Kennewick made by the company that produces the fastest production car in the world.
The technology is out there. The problem is the manufactures are in Detroit where auto workers make triple what a mechanic or body repair worker makes in Oregon.

Would I fit comfortably in either of these contraptions?

I have no idea if you would fit. I am 6'3", owned three Scirracos, one Datsun B310, and one VW bug.
If you cannot fit these vehicles, stay away from Ferrrari (sp) or most other vehicles. In fact, you'd better walk or ride a bike.
The vehicle made in Eugene I would say is single passenger and is a three wheeler.
