Gravatar I was totally shocked this morning when I turned on fox59 this morning and heard the news. How sad!

Gravatar Steve will be fondly remembered by most Australians. He seemed to live live with a passion. He successfully packaged his antipodean experiences and skills and won the interest of US and international markets. He was also a risk taker. A naturalist killed by a fish, he will achieve a well deserved legend status in Australia. I expect that the Australian federal or Queensland government will succumb to popular sentiment to give him an almost State Funeral. They should.

Gravatar He was good man. RIP Steve.

Gravatar I loved that guy. I read that they were filming when he was killed, and that the stingray was over a yard wide and weighed over 100 pounds. That's a heck of a lot bigger than the little Gulf varieties I've encountered! Evidently, Irwin was swimming alongside the ray when it suddenly turned and stabbed him, and that was that. "Lucky" shot to the heart, and almost instantaneous death (Or so I'd like to believe). Pity.

Gravatar Never, in the history of sea creatures has a sting ray done so much for humanity!!

Sorry, I wish he had only been rendered permanently unable to film again but DAMN that was one obnoxious little Aussie!!

I wish that ONLY his show would have died but.....damn it....SOMETHING had to die!!

Ok....I'm kidding but....only a little.

R.I.P. strange little weird dude.

Gravatar Not exactly a shocker, but it's too bad, anyway.
Dude wasn't exactly a safety engineer...More like an adrenaline junky, but he was a hell of a lot more entertaining than that putz on "American Karaoke"!
