I'm guess the NaPo was choosen because the NYT and WaPo aren't palying along any more.
Disgusting. If ANYTHING should be compared to Hitler and fascism, its this obvious used of faked, propoganda to incite war by the neo-con cabal that runs the US.

Glad you are still following this story. I've been waiting to either hear it mentioned on national radio (CBC) or see it either as an item on the CBC or CTV all news channels. Maybe I missed it. The IPS did run with it though. Good thing Harper and his minions hid from the natioanl press corp, one of them might actually be aware of his dumb comments about Iran and the fake story and ask him to square his circle. Then again, I can, I'm afraid, image his respons.
Great post. I'm so not willing to dismiss this incident with regard to the NatPost and CanWest-Global. They're doing material damage to how true democrats need to be informed about the world, and they've been doing it for too long.
I wonder if Iranian-Canadians have a hate propaganda case here?
Great post. The only thing I would do to beef it up is add a lot more attributions to your statements. I feel you back your perspective well but this is a strong inflamatory post and it would be a shame if something that may ultimately be true is ignored because it sounds like hyperbole.

What a surprise....
Without commenting on the credulity of groups understandably hyper-sensitive to the topic, I'll just weigh in with the Usual Suspects comment that they've been doing this crisis peddling since the late 1940s, when--as author Jerry Sanders put it, "They made the Russians look twenty feet tall."
An intentional plant would also divert attention away from our government's inaction on the human rights front as concerns legitimate issues of persecution, such as what is being done to the Baha'is in Iran. Until Bush came in the U.S. was a force of retraint on the Iranians behavior toward Iranian Baha'is: Congrssional and U.N. censures and condemnations. That stopped with Bush and the neocons, and brutal persecution of that defenseless community has since increased.
I'd have an easier time believing that colored badges are what the neocons have planned for Americans who do not agree with them.

I really hope this was a rhetorical question, because I have been watching the "new" Canadian conservativism assume the stupidity/ignorance/idiocy of all that do not share their vision of reality for some time now, years really. I miss traditional Canadian conservatism, I disagreed with some of its positions but at least I could believe they were Canadians first in their interests, this not being something I can say of the current "new" Conservative party and government.
It's obvious we find more truth on blogs and in MAD magazine.
Didn't this same group or one very much like it (Daniel Pipes in particular) have something to do with the publication in Denmark of those cartoons that caused the whole Muslim world to react angrily, in some cases with violence. Looks to me like Canada's being recruited into another U.S. "pre-emptive" war.

It has too often been said that Amir Taheri, the slanderous article's writer, is a member of Benador Associates and has written for this or that newspaper. But you need to go much further back in his career to understand who he is. As executive editor-in-chief of Iran's main daily newspaper, Kayhan, between 1972 and 1979, he was very close to the Shah.
