I can't get my mind around the rationale of these power hungry, greedy, and in most cases, old men (on both sides of the Atlantic) in sacrificing the lives of the innocent, the future of a country. I've been thinking along similar lines lately.
I once spoke to an Israeli in Australia who was looking at emigrating to NZ. I asked him why and he said, "Israel-Arab is stupid. There is lots of land in the world for people to live in, why should we fight over a few miles of it?"

There's a UN force already who have sat and watched.
NATO ? I can just see the French dropping 20,000 troops into their old colonial possession. The Germans won't send troops where they might shoot Jews. The Brits are too compromised what with Iraq and all that.
That leaves the Turks - who would demand EU entry in return - or the Dutch of Srebrenice infamy.
