What complete bullshit. Harper, Martin and Chretien should all apologize and Khadr should be sent home immediately.

And now we're sending US war resisters back to the US to suffer military "justice" for opposing the Iraq war.
What has happened to Canadian values that were revered around the world ? ? ? ?

"stevie is doing georgie proud, isn't he ? ? ? ?"
Stevie doesn't see very far ahead, or if he does, he has the tunnel-vision that most fundamentalists have.
This does not take a rocket scientist to game-out.
If Omar is tried before the election, there will be appeals. After the US election, there will most likely be a Democrat in the White House, and bye-bye Gitmo.
So, if Omar is tried before, and appeals after, the different political climate will make the Gitmo violations of human rights all the more pungent.
Add the indictments and trials that will come from the Constitutional violations, and CSIS/Canadian Government complicity in this process, and it will all come back on Stevie.

Harper believes no doubt rightly that after a few days the whole issue will be off the media radar and that he will not suffer any political damage. That is all that counts plus his keeping faith with his buddy Bush.
Calling the Guantanamo kangaroo court a judicial process rather than a political one is beyond Orwellian.
