In a comparison between the US and Canada, I expect the US numbers to be very roughly ten times as high. The proportion is higher here: 8000 to 500 killed since 2001.
But "In the United States, more than 300,000 women and children seek safety in shelters each year. In Canada, the number is between 90,000 and 100,000."
Is this because we have proportionally more shelters (still not enough), or are more apt to seek shelters, or something else?
What is the cause of this mayhem.
I suggest that it's partly because of a lack of education in manners. I'm an old guy of 75 and was brought up to respect and care for women. You know, walk on the correct side of them, open and hold doors for them, rise when a woman enters the room, etc. Simple civilities taught while young would surely reduce the need for womens and childrens shelters.
Utterly staggering.
