Awesome Dave. Bene pointed me to another post a while back explaining how the 3 or 4 organizations McVety runs all have the same phone number and mailing address and that only two of them are allowed to issue tax reciepts. Yet when one makes a donation, there is no way for the person at the other end of the web or mail to know which organization is supposed to get the money or if a reciept should be made.
That smells like fraud to me.
Lyin' for Jesus...gotta love the Fundies...

The real red flag for me is the bit about Rhema Bible College in Tulsa. Accredited it may be, but it was founded by the late Kenneth Hagin -- exposed more than two decades ago as a plagarist by a student at rival Oral Roberts U across town. Think about the irony in that one.
I just love the pompous biographies too ... no further comment needed on them.

Excellent post Dave.
I would love to see the CRA audit these groups/institutions. I really wonder how much they funnel into these tax exempt shells from the sales of all sorts of Christian merchandise and ad revenues from their Christian broadcasts.
And for some reason, ponzi pyramid schemes also seem to be popular among these extreme Christians. I guess they figure God gifted them with a deceitful nature so they could dupe people.

I am shocked, just shocked that these godly men of god would fudge about the validity of their academic credentials. And as an accredited agnostic clergyman myself I am especially appalled. While they cheated, I earned my ordination the old-fashioned way, I sent $20 to an ad in the back of Rolling Stone.

I'm stuck.
I'm not sure I'm getting stonewalled, I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt and I think if questions are going to be asked, it is only fair the people we are asking about have a shot at responding.
We aren't hiding what we are looking at.
I've written Brian Rushfeldt asking where he got his degrees. I'm not sure why there has been no response.
A phone call to his Coalition gets an answering machine.
Also the upgrade on the diploma mill in the US (California State Christian University has this convoluted statement. I asked about it at Culture choc's investigative post:
"California State Christian University (CSCU) is a private postsecondary vocational school with religious exemption. We were approved by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education as of June 30, 2007. California created the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Schools with a predetermined June 30, 2007 sunset. This is to keep California government streamlined with updated bureaus and committees. A new governing body is forthcoming. CSCU is currently agressment with the Director for the California Department of Consumer Affairs."
Huh? In Canuck english that means...
We've also been unable to find St. Petersburg State University. Doesn't mean something isn't out there, but I can't find it.
"Dr. Charles H. McVety
B.A., M.A. (Canada Christian College), D.Min. (California State Christian University), D.P.C. (Hon.), D.Litt. (St. Petersburg State University)
President"
Quelle surprise. St. Petersburg State University honourary degrees have popped up a few times.
Nice work! Thank you so much for pitching in.
The US hopes to have something up in the next week or so and a Cdn TV producer has been contacted. We'll see how that plays out while we work together to put the solid research that has been done by all of you. Again, thank you.
