Russia is supplying Iran with a large military arsenal of weapons and anti-ballistic missile defense systems, but nobody mentions that either. In a sense, you're right. Peter MacKay has targeted a nation with an accusation which he knows will have no diplomatic consequences. The same would not be possible for China or Russia, both of whom are complicit in furthering mayhem and misfortune in the world today.
I'm not going to impugn the motives of Mr.MacKay, but you have written an interesting article here and it's clear you have access to a good deal of information about this issue.

I'm now use to the "stuff" trotted out by the Harper administration which seems to be re-used Bush speaking points. The strategy of spouting endless half truths in a manner to allow deniability when pressed on specifics is an old GOP and Australian liberal party trick. I wish this country wasn't going down this road but with the Harper gang it seems to be inevitable. The sham Iran acquisitions is just the latest example.
What I'm not use to is the complete lack of questioning from the supposed Canadian MSM. I'll wait for the papers tomorrow to see if there is any editorial comment or columnist who deem to stick pins in the MacKay but I'm not holding my breath.

Don't hold your breath indeed.
How many years did Amiel have that MacLean's column? Is she still raving about PQ terrorists & the decline of the noble white race there? It wouldn't surprise me one bit.
When I heard about Harper's "close personal friendship" with Mulroney, & his having a little off-the-record chitchat with Karl Rove, I knew exactly who I was dealing with. Must be tough to tie your wagon to the most loathed POTUS in history - which explains his stellar public profile since taking office.
We now have Waldo for a PM.
Sadly, Dionne is enough of a twit to hand him a majority in 2008.
Interesting times, dead ahead.

"The same would not be possible for China or Russia, both of whom are complicit in furthering mayhem and misfortune in the world today."
Wow. Hear that? China and Russia are just as bad as the US.
Which country, again, has been projecting active force all over the globe? And which ones haven't been?
Funny, but Canada's lately done more than either of the "Evil Empires" ie Haiti and Afghanistan.
