The Galloping Beaver

Gravatar One can only hope, for both country's sake . . . .

Gravatar Having raked over actual social policy differences between countries, it seems that what we deem to be conservative is progressive enough to be closer to the American Democratic policies, much more so than their conservative counterparts.

Our liberals are pretty pinko by their standards, and the NDP are downright socialist/communist.

When our conservatives want to cozy up to the conservatives down south, I see nothing but revoltingly fawning sycophancy; there is only the shallowest ideological basis for it.

Gravatar It won't matter, Harper won't be PM by January, if an election is finally called this year.

Gravatar I'm not at all sure of that Saskboy.

The vote split still favours the Cons very strongly plus there's no appetite at all among the current opposition to put up a united front.

I don't see Layton and Dion getting cooperative any time soon. I'm also not convinced either one are secure enough in their jobs to stave off the howls for blood among their ranks should a badly timed forced election call result in another Harper minority.

Gravatar Do you honestly think anything will be different aside from what state receptions each leader is invited to? Business is business and politics is politics. Often the two mingle, but that doesn't mean that mingling is guaranteed. The two countries can simply have a working relationship.
