The Galloping Beaver

Gravatar Fer cryin' out loud.

Isn't it great that Elmo is with us as opposed to a'gin us in the wawah on turrur ? ? ? ?

Gravatar This is frightening. There’s no way programming and messages can remain apolitical, and considering the backers, sure it is intended to create a certain mentality among children.toward war. Is there any organization responsible for overseeing this type of content as well as who funds it?

Gravatar Actually, one of the characters does deal with daddy's legs not working anymore and all the trips to the doctors.

But, according to CBC, the word war is never mentioned in the video at all. This is for the wee kidlets barely able to understand why mom and/or dad are not at home with them and might come home 'different'.

Yes, it's a big help for the American kids, most of whom are too young to deal with the adult reasons for war (and let's face it, they might ask awkward questions no one has real answers for), to deal with just the separation anxiety involved. (The program seemed vague enough, the video could be used for industrial workers living away from home for weeks/months), it just has a very narrow focus and is avoiding any of the 'big' issues attached to the kidlet anxieties.

I just couldn't help but think of the Iraqi kids who could use a whole lot of healing as well, who aren't safe from the 'front' by several thousands miles.

I don't fault Sesame Street for attempting to broach into reassurance/explanation territory for the tots. Terra knows how they suck up goings on around them like sponges and can distort and find blame in themselves for it all -- however, I don't know how free Sesame Street creative policies are anymore. Who owns them now? I could be wrong and I don't know how much crossover there is between SS and Jim Henson's Workshop anymore, but I believe JH is owned by Disney now, isn't it?

Gravatar I guess it won't be long now, before Big Bird is talking like Bugs Bunny did in the 1940s.
