The Galloping Beaver

Gravatar a new non-political institution designed to promote conservative ideas

skdadl's head hurt.

Gravatar Drat! Skadl beat me to it!

Let me merely add that I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that this nasty little gathering is getting most of its funding from Alberta. I guess they were right about the increasing problem of gangs in this province...

Gravatar But where is Baird?

Can ya have a Larry (I am not a crook) O'Brien without a Baird?

Gravatar Nifty little pyramid Presto picked as his logo -- it's a wonder he didn't add the "All-seeing eye", as well.

Gravatar I was checking out their links page, which has the usual cast of right wing lobbyists and think tanks. The only group I didn't recognize was the Work Research Foundation so I thought I would check them out.

They have renamed themselves Cardus:

http://www.cardus.ca/organization/about/

An excerpt:

We believe that economic, social and religious patterns have a deep influence on each other, and that we ignore these to the peril of each. These forces do not operate independent of each other, and neither do their institutions. Public life is sustained not just by social or political effort, but by a plurality of institutional cooperation.

Thus —this is the moment for a think tank to bridge politics and culture, to rethink, research and rebuild an integrative vision of North American social architecture. And Cardus isn't merely rethinking and researching an alternative vision for public life—we're actively working to renew and rebuild...

We believe that God created the world, and that he is the main character of the story of universal history —not the I of liberal modernity, but the THOU of the Hebrew Psalms. Further we believe that the Christian Scriptures are God’s reliable revelation as to what his purposes are for the world, and how we should live in it. Cardus thought, research and policy works to weave through the integrity of the biblical story. This story is not a private story reserved for the private delights of Sunday worshippers—it is a public story that touches the whole world. It is public truth—and it changes everything it touches.

Truly frightening.

Gravatar Tasha Kheiriddin - CBC Newsworld producer, Ontario Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, VP of the Montreal Economic Institute, member Fraser Institute

Is that current employment or employment history? Holy conflict of interest Batman!

Gravatar A Canadian arm of Focus on the Family is in there, quelle surprise.

Thanks for this.

Gravatar They also have friends in high places ...

[Thanks for linking!]

Gravatar Yikes! Quite the links Steve's homeboys have, but useful to know.
When the editors and journos who are Manning Centre members quote 'experts' who are also members, it should be pointed out. You guys are all deputized!

Jim : No, not all at once! Sloppy of me not to have made that clear about
Kheiriddin's employment -was just giving background. They all have extensive bios at the Manning Centre and C2C links and there are many more names you'll recognize in the way of reporters at Sun and Herald papers, various captains of industry and elected officials.

Gravatar I hope they spend some of those big Alberta bucks on a better photographer. Otherwise, looks like a fun group. Now let's all try to think of something nice to say about Preston Manning. And David Frum.

Gravatar Wasn't Tom Flanagan the name of Jon Lovitz's pathological liar character on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE?

Gravatar Good lord, Johnny, you're right.
Yeah, that's the ticket!

Gravatar are you in favor of sterilization of the mentality chalenged as prestos father was
