Whooee! One area where Canada still holds a shred of credibility is food. We are big exporters and we are also big financial contributors to food aid programs -- even under Harper. Why we would stay away from this conference is inexplicable. The Merkans carried the day wrt ethanol. We wouldn't have borne much shame there, even if we do deserve it.

24,000 human beings are starving to death every single day. 100 per hour. i every 3.6 seconds. These people are desperate. If some ragtag insurgent group offers them a daily meal in return for taking up arms, they'll take it. They'll die if they don't.

The food crisis is much more than a namby-pamby humanitarian issue. Global security is threatened by food insecurity.
