Gravatar Howard Dean and Jessica and Renee are First!

Gravatar Thanks for the note at bottom of last thread, Susan! ♥

Gravatar All quiet outside now. Looks like the toronado -- if there actually was one -- missed us handily.

Gravatar Bill~!!

A miss is a GOOD THING! =Whew!=
Sooo glad you're okay!
(We cannot spare you, y'know!)

Gravatar I'm watching Rev. Jeremiah Wright being interviewed
on Bill Moyers Journey.
It's really good.

Gravatar listener ~

Toronade couldn't have been near. Although the Weather Channel had a roronado watch for the area, which prompted us to keep our cats inside, the Oak Park storm/air raid siren never went off. And since they usually set it off two or three times a year for really severe thunderstorms, it's obvious there couldn't have been truly severe weather in the immediate vicinity.

Gravatar It strikes me as ironic (in the worst sense of the word) that Hillary would use Rev. Wright to smear Obama. "Because the Republicans would". Yes, they would and are.

But did everybody forget that McSame has the twin millstones of Hagee and Falwell hanging around his neck?

Gravatar Today I was raking the front yard and found a perfect undamaged robin's egg under the tree. Poor little thing. Of course robins don't count, and I doubt they even know it's gone. I couldn't see a nest up in the tree, so I'm guessing that a nest-predator bird dropped it in flight.

Gravatar This evening I heard 2 great horned owls, and earlier I heard the clattering sound of Sandhill Cranes. Went outside but couldn't see them, but I did see a red bellied woodpecker.

Gravatar There was a tornado warning? I spent the evening cleaning (do I know how to have a great Friday night or what?) and had cd's blasting while I cleaned. I knew it was storming but maybe I should have paid more attention.

btw, I'll match JayDean's red bellied woodpecker with the two deer I saw early this morning.

Deer in Evanston. Pretty but not such a good thing. We seem to have built housing developments on their habitats. So they come into urban areas. Once they even came onto my patio to eat from my bird feeder!

Gravatar Susan ~

I'm not sure it's a bad thing in the long run that Hilary is launching the same attacks the Republcans would and are. It's better, I think, to have all of this be old news by November.

Of course, there are real differences between the primary and the general election. Obama and McCain differ in important ways on the issues. Policy differences between Obama and Clinton are too minor to mention. Personalities and gotchas are the only things Clinton has to talk about. Which makes it unfortunately difficult for Obama to respond without appearing to go negative himself.

Gravatar Yeah, Bill,

It makes the case that Hillary is in the Republicans' camp. Pretty soon they'll have to put her on payroll.
Oh wait, I forgot...McCain took Public Financing, so he can't afford her.
But wait...hmmm...maybe the Republicans who can't give to McCain is where Hillary got her $10 mil?

Gravatar I'll see all yoour critters and raise you
one Great Horned Owl
two mourning doves mating on the backyard lawn
two tree swallows mating all around an apple tree
and a female Pileated Woodpecker.

Gravatar I have to go to sleep now
because it got dark under the table
and I have to open the Bookshop in the morning.

XOXOXXX

Gravatar listener ~

I may be wrong, but I thought at the end McCain had been allowed to opt out of public financing for the primary. (Remember that this is all still primary. The general election finance cycle doesn't start until the conventions.)

Gravatar An article I just saw makes an interesting point. Many of the older Pennsylvania blue-colar workers who supported Clinton so strongly and often said they would vote for McCain if she is not the nominee are "Reagan Democrats" who didn't vote for Kerry and didn't vote for Gore. If they don't vote for Obama, nothing much has changed. (Remember that Kerry did carry Pennsylvania.)

Would they have voted for Clinton had she been the nominee? We'll never know.

Gravatar Heading for bed. Incredibly early for me, but my work for the day was finished an hour ago and I have to get up early (for me) tomorrow moring for a meeting if the parade planning committee.

Gravatar Hope everyone saw the Moyers/Wright interview last night... EXCELLENT!

Gravatar It has been far too long since I have visited, let alone posted, here and sent a greeting to my many friends out there. I have not been to any sites actually - for several months - and have been fairly "quiet" on national political issues (at least as far as commenting on the internet).

I cannot even begin to describe the last two years of my life as an American citizen - because it has been anything but the life of a citizen, at least according to the notion of the nation that goes by that name.

I have yet to really tell the story - although I will try and get a chance - at least to all of you, my friends, who have followed these events and cared and worried about my welfare and safety.

Perhaps in the next few weeks I will have a chance to put a bit more out there for the public to see. But I just wanted to stop by and say Hi. I have only recently resurrected my email and so I have found a few emails that I never saw when they first arrived - some from a few of you - I will try and send a personal greeting shortly.

I hope all is well with everyone and hope to see you soon.

Charlie

Happy Birthday Jessica.

Gravatar Charlie!!!!

So glad you stopped by. Just waking up here on the left coast.

xoxoox

See you in August at DemFest

Gravatar Welcome back Charlie!

No one said saving the world would be easy. Hope I can hear the whole story at DeanFest!

Gravatar waiting on a friend for brunch. About 72 in San Fran right now. Just lovely for al fresco dining. She should be here soon. Her flight is this eve ing so we'll see where the day takes us.

Gravatar Guys on lunch from AT&T Park. Poor Giants fans have no hope this year. Barry was their embarrassment and now that he's gone so is the team.

Some good looking guys out this morning. Too bad for me they are hand in hand.

Gravatar Hi Charlie, Denise, Renee

Just gorgeous here today, on trip to store: apples, service, redbud all in bloom, and almost everything not blooming is showing these trillion shades of green. Just glorious. Was 80° earlier this morning, now it's 70° and getting ready for a thunderstorm. And I don't even care: it's SPRING!!!!

Gravatar Just got back from the IL Democratic Women's convention---amazing time which will result in future lead post.

"I introduce Sen. Durbin and have Cocktails with Jan Schakowsky"

but now for a walk with my husband and dogs

Gravatar dang it's actually quite warm now. After brunch we cabbed it to Ghiradelli Square. Had ice cream for dessert & she picked up un petit cadeau pour son chouchou.

Oh the fun we used to have at Harris Bank in downtown Chicago.

Holly looking forward to your full story!

Gravatar BFA has its new site up. Have not exored it yet

Gravatar Thanks for the heads-up, Denise.
