I don't like Obama's chances being tied to how well he kisses up to Hillary - because it will never be enough. I regret that such a situation was created that Obama now has to spend so much time soothing hurt feelings with the Clintons and their supporters and helping her raise money to pay off her (massive) campaign debt. I wish he had been able to get that knock-out.
The Clintons pushed as hard as they could as long as they could to get what they wanted and lost. And, it seems like the party's future is still being held hostage to their ambition. Everyone else who lost recognized when it was time to leave the stage. She never should have run herself into such debt. She never should have even considered benefiting from such division in the party created in her name - especially after it was mathematically impossible for her to win.
Clintons are not good losers. (Unfortunately, for them, that doesn't always make them *winners*.) More of the onus should be on *them* to create unity. I want to see Hillary speaking out against the "Hillary Voters for McCain" groups that are being fronted by McCain shills. I want Bill to call Obama to offer an olive branch and his help.

I am really angry that H.C. spent all that money beyond what she got for contributions and now wants Obama (of all people!) to help her get it back.
It seems to me that candidates should be allowed to give their campaigns only the amount any citizen is allowed to give and not a penny more.
If they don't have support, they don't continue on.
Politics is such a bunch of malarky!
Just got home after leaving a half hour ago to go to the frame store and find something for the painting I just completed for Hubby.
Got part way there and a warning light on the dash came on that I'd never seen before.
Turns out I had a flat tire. 
Got it repressurised, but there's a nail in it.
Of course, this all happened ten minutes before 5 on a Friday night and now most shops are closed until Monday.
We're going to have such a romantic Anniversary evening tomorrow night
out in the 15 year old pickup instead of the cute little Mini Cooper, eh?
I guess I should be glad the truck isn't as old as we are.

Interesting timing, in that I got mail from Emily's List today, asking for a donation. And, since I remembered that being one of the groups that helped Hillary stay in the thing as long as she did--in spite of the name standing for "Early Money is Like Yeast", and the Clinton campaign was *hardly* an example of a cause in need of "early money"--I quickly ripped the thing up and dropped the pieces in the trash.

Several donors took the occasion to speak to Obama. Lanny Davis, a vociferous Clinton defender on television, introduced himself to Obama, who responded, "I know who you are." Davis fidgeted. But he thanked Obama because he son felt for the first time invested in politics. But Obama had to understand: he's known Hillary before she was a Clinton. "I don't want you to take out of context what I said during the campaign," he told Obama.

Eldest*offspring called to say he checked to see if
Costco's auto service is open on the weekends,
and they are, but they only repair tires they sell.
Sweet of him to check.
We could probably locate SOMEBODY open
but I don't dare drive it more than a few miles alone
because if I got stranded and Hubby was out on Lake Champlain
for the 4 to 6 hour sailing race across the Lake and back*
it would make for a way too memorable Anniversary. LOL!
*Yeah, they managed to schedule it on our Anniversary.
Last year there was a race on my birthday
and the year before the opening day of the Sailing Club was on Hubby's birthday.
We get all the luck. Ha!

I dumped Emily's list after being a supporter since their beginning when they spent a ton of money supporting Hillary in 2000. Early money? Helping struggling women who are unfairly excluded? Hillary Clinton? I don't think so. I have never given Emily a penny since then.
