Guess I'm going to join you if I can. The old Blogforamerica is cooked. Something is very amiss, and it is not amenable anymore.

Happy 4th everyone!
Marched in a parade this morning, painted the chicken coop and sorted socks (an endless job) this afternoon. A good day

Hey Pat in Colorado, good to see you here!!
BFA is a mess tonight but I had some fun with them and their censorship policy. I'm writing to the SF Chronicle to let them know about it. Same for the local Burlington VT newspaper.

Hi, Pat, and welcome. After Dean for America became Democracy for America, the folks who can to control the blog were ones who just didn't know what it had been about, as far as I could tell. D@mn shame, but things happen. This isn't the same, but it's been a nice little home for some of us refugees--a place where we can talk both politics and family, show our feelings, and even if we get a little out of line we needn't worry about being flamed. All family. And thanks to Renee above all.

Wow, I'm tired; my mind isn't working well. I meant to say that this isn't the same as the old BFA. Nice, though.

Torres, 41, makes record 5th Olympic swim team
(07-04) 04:00 PDT Omaha , Neb. --
Natalie Coughlin is 25 years old, an elder stateswoman of swimming.
Dara Torres wears goggles that are older than Coughlin.
Torres is 41. In swimming, that's not old, that's Pleistocene.
Torres swam in her first Olympic Games in 1984. Last year, she came out of a seven-year retirement, practically stepping out of a museum display case, to take a shot at making her fifth U.S. Olympic team at this week's U.S. trials.
"The idea," said Michael Lohberg, Torres' coach for the past year, "was to do something that hasn't been done before - getting an old lady on the Olympic team."
Mission accomplished. Friday night, the old lady made the team by beating Coughlin to win the 100-meter freestyle. She now stands alone in history, the only five-time Olympic swimmer.
"I'm ecstatic, I can't believe it," Torres said after the race.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!!
Hubby and I decided not to do fireworks, but we did put an American flag in the back window of our Mini Cooper and it has an Obama magnet on it.
We went to a really excellent barbecue, then to the Shelburne Museum (historical buildings).
I am wicksy tired and have to open the Bookstore tomorrow, so must sleep.
Welcome over here, Pat!!

Hi everyone. Hope everyone had a good 4th. I did not, unfortunately.
I have had a pretty bad few weeks, and it seems it just keeps getting worse. Found out two people in my medical support groups died. One committed suicide as the medical issues were just too overwhelming and she tried nearly 100 doctors and too many treatments to tolerate with very little success.
I am still losing hair by the handfuls so now have large bald patches and it looks like I will be living in hats since a wig is too itchy and hot this time of year. I didn’t think it would be this upsetting because I have been losing for awhile but this came on so rapidly and so much.
On top of that, my bank and two credit cards are screwing me over in ways you hear about on the news but can’t fathom really happens until it happens to you. I can’t get into all the details but if anyone knows of a good attorney, who handles cases against big financial institutions, email me.
I am down to my last $30, which I have to find a way to eat from for the next two weeks. So, it is looking like I may have to cancel my Netroots trip. A friend donated flier miles for the flight but I have baggage fees, shuttles in Tucson and Austin, plus food and I am not going to get the financial nightmare with my banks squared away by the 16th. I am even going to be very late on rent this month and have never been in my life so I am not even sure what they do or what added fees they charge. Ugh! Will have to talk to the management whom I can't stand. Too many stresses. Too bad I am not a drug user because I could really use a doobie right about now. lol

Okay, this is a last ditch attempt if anyone has a few bucks they can kick in to help defray costs of NN. I set up a Chipin page.
http://cherylr.chipin.com/netroots-costs
I know the timing is bad, and everyone is pretty broke right now, but I thought I would give it a try and attempt to salvage this trip because I need it for my mental state right now. I just can't deal with all the crap going on.
I just found out that the second rep at the bank lied to me too. She said I wasn't getting my monthly statements because they only do them twice a year now. I told her that first of all was not legal and secondly, would not explain why I didn't get my January statement. Just got access to my account online and all the statements they have not been sending for a year are there. What I suspect they did was want to save their costs and just didn't send them. Just another of the many lies and incompetence at the bank. I had no issues with my bank until Wells took over. Same with my Credit cards until Citibank and Bank of America took over. The smaller banks are much more ethical. I am going over to a local credit union once I get this straightened out. I don't need this added stress with all the my medical bills.
