I have stopped reading any kind of local newspaper for a very very long time.
Nowadays I get my news either from Malaysiakini or Malaysia-Today or blogs.
I don't bother with news that are potentially biased from local media.
They need to stop insulting our intelligence.
Even Singapore is equally guilty of this media credibility issue.
Who are we to rattle the mainstream media?

We're just self-conscious citizen who blogs about our 'halaman rumah', makan, wifey/gf/children and the occasional gravy trail that seems to spill over the road. *yawn

The difference between blogs and local media is we have a choice to pick blogs to read, news from both pro and anti-establishment and form our own opinions.
Local newspapers must toe the line or lose their publishing license.
As Howsy mentioned before, we're just here to provide alternative viewpoints.
People are free to read OR ignore.
At least in the world of the Internet, you're given a chance to mature and make the choice and be properly learned, unlike the controlled media where you are being spoonfed.
A pity MCA boy wrote such an elegant piece about spoonfeeding on his blog but he can't grasp the same concept when applied to alternative political views online.

That is how I managed to write a long essay on fuel hike which you dismissed as 'rubbish' and led to you insulting my parents. I was hoping you could clear the air over my mistakes which you never did.

You started your 'debates' in the fuel hike issue by attacking and name-calling people for having their own opinions and reasons for protesting the fuel hikes. It is not a surprise that others decided to return the favor and smack you down.
You still don't get it, do you ? People aren't really concerned about alternative views that are better or worse than theirs. It is your arrogance coupled with name calling, verbal attacks that causes others to shut their mind off from views because whatever reasons/logic you provided were totally invalidated by your sarcasm and verbal attacks on others.
