$\"Gravatar\"$ Paste the header code into the header page in Wordpress. You have to find the right place to insert the comment code on the single post and main index template pages in Wordpress. If you don't put it in the right place on the right pages, then it won't work right.

In the Wordpress Default theme's Main Index Template page, insert the haloscan code immediately after this text:

< /div >

In the Single Post page, insert the haloscan code immediately after this text:

( 'Pages: ', '', 'number'); ? >

If you can decipher the php code, you can edit it to remove the native Wordpress comments sections.

$\"Gravatar\"$ Wordpress restricted all JAVA and many other codes usage on its site to prevent malicious or any threats... so unless you can contact and prove to wordpress that HALOSCAN is safe to use and ask WORDPRESS people to add this as a WIDGET in wordpress. .. else it won't work in FREE USER for wordpress i guess ... coz free user cannot change the template ... of course unless you upgrade to changing the CSS but i'm not sure that can work or not ...

$\"Gravatar\"$ It's impossible to give a blanket statement for how to make it work with Wordpress because every WP designer codes things slightly different. Having said that, the problem is generally in disabling WP's native commenting. For my template, I had to find the php that called the comments file (you shouldn't delete the comments file because it can cause errors when random files call for it - blame the coders for it). Replace the php comment call code with the second string of code and it should work. If it doesn't, then you have another file that is calling it. Look at your page code (click View->Source) and try to find out which file is used to build your page, then go back to edit that file and replace the php call with the haloscan string.

You should be able to do all of this from the Presentation Theme Editor if you have editor privileges authorized for yourself.

Things to bear in mind:

1) If you are using \"wordpress.com\" to host your blog them you can't use Haloscan. Wordpress.com doesn't give you the ability to edit the templates that is required. The same goes for some other hosting companies that use WordPress (e.g. 1and1). You must be hosting WordPress somwehere that you have access to the files that make it up.

2) Every theme is different in WordPress, so it would be nigh on impossible for HaloScan to give a simple walkthrough. The best is the one above as it pertains to the default template.

Generally, it's not too difficult. If you can find your way through a Blogger template, you should be able to decode WordPress. If you're not that familiar with code, look for the English phrases to act as guides. And back up anything before you go tinkering!

since i didn't find that i didn't get coding into it.

the header and main template insertions/substitutions as well as removing any wordpress coding for their comments was sufficient to getting haloscan to work.

i love having my haloscan back.

instead of using the step 1 coding found above, i used the step 1 coding from the manual method. this is coded specifically for my account.

then i put the step two from above into the main index theme, deleting the wordpress comment coding there. then i went into the comments.php area and deleted between the coding that it said i could edit.

now my haloscan comments are there and i love it $\"\"$

I have not tried to set up haloscan because I thought I would have to restart all my comments and that is not acceptable. However, if there is a way I can KEEP using haloscan and NOT lose all 2000+ existing comments I would love to hear it.

What I would like to do is to transfer the 2000+ existing haloscan comments from the blogger version to the WP version so they will be available. I would hate to lose all that commentary just because I changed platforms.

As for the transfer from blogger to WordPress? Hmmm.
I believe that the WordPress IDs do not match up to the blogger IDs, and therein lies the problem ... I am, as are you, stumped.
The inclusion of the .php files makes changing individual IDs nigh impossible while allowing the blog to function properly.
I got nothing, I guess.
