Look, John, everybody knows about the mid-life crisis thingy. We’ve all seen it. Get a fast car (convertible, of course), dump the old wife, get a cute young thing to take to the parties, and puff up your self image by putting down all the other men around (whether they know what’s going on or not)…
Problem is, he DID that already once. And 72 is not midlife... He had his go around, switching from wife one to cindy. If you can't grow the f-up for the love of mike, get out of the public arena. We've already had 8 years of "My dadddy doesn't love me, I'll show him."
I really am sick to death of the gop using the political stage to work out their psychological problems. Can we have some healthy people in there for a change?

Dan of Redness -- tlg said it. McCain is way past midlife. He is well into the dazed and confused strata.
Which would somewhat explain his actions and his compromises. His ego, something that all national level politicians have, would explain the rest.
I agree with you that Palin is a depressing and alarming entity. She's also prematurely or perhaps permanently since childhood, dazed and confused.
I expect a run on the passport offices if those two get into power in November. The power they already have should be rescinded.
