Gravatar crazy sento bath stories - keep 'em coming. however - first time I went to an Onsen I almost died.

PSA time: never drink A LOT, then get in the bath. Not a good idea. Just saying.

Gravatar Gator! That sounds GREAT!

If you look out your window and see an olfart with a banjo case sitting on your doorstep, don't call the cops; as ol' Jerry Lee Lewis sang:

"It'll be me." :o)

Gravatar sweet memories....warm...clean...comfy...remember the onsen at the hotel near Fuji....nothing like it...so very relaxing...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Gravatar Dang!! I'm on the next flight!!! Are you kidding me..... walking home all jammied up!! On my list for sure

Actually, it felt good just reading it. I have a crapy fiberglass showertub in my townhouse.... does not hold the hot in the water. Useless. My last place that I rented though had a real cast iron tub and oh man the sleep after one of those baths was just heaven. I'd float some loose leaf chamomile and lavender tea in the water..... sleeeeeeep.

Moar!!!! Oh and Farzi is a cutie!!

Gravatar Thanks Mom!

Gravatar The fun part is getting a couple of guys together and heading over to the ladies area!

Gravatar Well! I never!!!

Gravatar As an otaku I'm horribly envious of the baths, from all the accounts in anime and manga.

You can imagine my terror when I discovered the horrible Soylent Green truth about onsen:

I had always wondered exactly what 'oriental' flavor ramen was made of.

Gravatar That's just got to be just wonderful if your lower back is fucked up from four decades of arthritis damage.

Most of the pain comes from muscle spasms. It compounds the damage of the injury several-fold. Ask me how I know.

The trick is to get those muscles relaxed and not spazzing out or seized up. If you can do that, much of the time your vertebrae will slip back into alignment as easily as they slipped out.

I know of four mitigations: massage therapy, electrical stim, muscle relaxants like Fleraril, and wet heat.

Wet heat is tricky if you're limited to heating hot packs up in the microwave. A long hot soak in one of those Japanese baths would do the same job, but a lot more easily and safely.

Gravatar plus it's fun!
