You are completely changing my sense of Texas as a barren, colorless desert. Your photos and descriptions make it so much more lovely and colorful. It's a good thing because the state politics that you write about confirm what I feared about the place. But how you see Texas and its beauty really transforms it for me.

Well, thanks. Austin is not a desert, getting about 30 inches of rain a year usually--though it _is_ very hot in the summer. Plants tend to be either drought-resistant or opportunists, flowering quickly after rains. Nature photographers thus have to be either drought resistant or opportunists as well.
