Wow, those are some pretty cool lullabies.
We sang "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" to our son. None-a that "Rock-A-Bye Baby" stuff.
And, what Idyllopus said...

On my parents' 50th wedding anniversary, my father had already been gone five years. We sent my mom a bouquet of flowers, just to say we remembered what day it was, and how glad we were that they had met and fallen in love.
So, here are words for you-- like those-- so glad that you two met and loved so long, and so well. It is good to remember.

my regards also on your anniversary.
thanks for the list. i have not even heard of six of your entries, tho i have heard music from the buena vista social club. i do love old blues. must look up hobart smith. and i love the name "blue murder."
our disconnect from the equinox as a day of something is surely more evidence of our disconnect from life.

There were two groups called Blue Murder, which had nothing to do with one another, and presumably did not know of each other's existence. One was a 1980s heavy metal band, not a very memorable one, IMO, and the other was (is?) a british folky group that sings nasal 4 or 5 or 6 part harmonies of mostly traditional songs. This particular song is a spiritual by Joseph Spence, a Bahaman guitar player and singer now dead and legendary, which was later recorded by the incredible string band and the grateful dead. I have a tribute to Joseph Spence CD which contains the Blue Murder version.
