This is a terrific column. It should be given to every parent, teacher and administrator in every city, town and hamlet in the whole of the United States.

When many of us were kids, the word "spin" did not exist in its' present popular meaning.

Liars abound. We have so many written contracts and lawyers because we cannot trust each other. A nation of too many liars...and I believe that, sadly, is the truth.

I agree, too. That’s definitely the right way to describe the unearned praise, grade inflation, and every other charade to boost Johnny’s self-esteem without Johnny actually doing something to earn it. It’s nothing but lying. No excuse can wipe out that fact: a lie is a lie.
