I am the Unknown Soldier
And maybe i died in vain,
But if I were alive and my country called,
I'd do it all over again.

Heavy the load we undergo,
And our own hands prepare,
If we have parley with the foe,
The load our sons must bear.
This stanza hit me right between the eyes. Were it that the pacifist anti-war liberal elitists could simply understand this new foe, who with us does not wish to parley.

"Pacifist anti-war liberal elitists."
Wow! That's a mouthful.
Would the opposite of that be a
"Bellicose pro-war conservative commoner?"

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse."

Patton's Prayer:
"...Graciously hearken to us as soldiers who call upon Thee that armed with Thy power, we may advance from victory to victory, and crush the oppression and wickedness of our enemies, and establish Thy justice among men and nations. Amen."
I wonder if General Patton had read this poem by Kipling. I suspect so! Patton didn't have much use for "parley with the foe," did he?

I wonder how history will remember that day. How will history judge the conspiratorial jerks who dishonor all
of us.
