Another thing that people may not know is, the oil companies net less money per gallon, than the taxes levied on it. For this reason, I find it incredibly ironic that Democrats like Hillary Clinton wants to reduce the oil industry's profits.
But, that's just me thinking out loud, again.

Mustang, my brother,
The first part of your post represents my major concern; the double demographic suicide the world has been committing for the last several decades. It makes me want to pull my hair out when I see that the folks who should be having one or two kids at most are having a half dozen or more, while the people who should be having 10 or 12 has one--or none. We're headed for a tipping point of the worst sort as long as the productive class commits slow suicide and the parasite class breeds like rats. I lobby constantly for people to reverse their retrograde attitudes about parenthood and children, motherhood and childbearing in particular. It mostly falls on deaf ears.

Good article.
What many people don't understand about the ongoing razmatazz about CO2 is that really the only way to lessen CO2 emittings is to use less energy. And that's were Al Gore is so wrong! So what are we supposed to do? A new holocaust to bring down the population in the world? The envoronmentalists bitches about the environment visavi Carbon dioxide emittings, But most of the time they don't live as they learn.
Just yesterday I met some green bleeding hearts in the city square, that wanted to impose their brainless preachings on me. When I asked what the sollution would be to the global warming- they said that we should use solar energy instead. I said to them; "Look around. Where are we? How many people- and at what standards- do you think that actually could survive on the Scandinavian penninsula powered only by solar power? How do you think the solar panels are built? Not with solar energy, that's for shure!"
What most of the greens does'nt realize is that the only way alternative energy resources like wind mills and solar panels is affordable- is that they are being made with "non- alternative energy" and that they never ever could be built and be made profitable with the energy they produces.
And at the same time we have a mind- lock law here in Sweden for our scientists to even THINK about new sollutions (like safer and more effective fission plants- or for that matter- Fusion).
Sigh!

Oh, I forgot!
Every erg of energy used up produces 10 times more water vapour than CO2- and as we all know it, water wapour is an eight times more potent greenhouse gas than CO2. Who is the biggest emitter of this greenhouse gas? Well it's the sun...

Let me see if I've got this right - -Al Gove's private jet and John Edward's SUV are responsible for global warming. Okay, I understand, Democrats are responsible for the climate change. Thankfully, Republicans are all driving hybrids.
And gas companies closed refineries in order to abide The clean Air Acts of 1990 and 1997. Oh really?
When discussing gas prices, you omitted any discussion of the tremendous profits gas companies have reported every quarter for the last twenty-six quarters. Don't ya think that profits and prices are sort of linked maybe? Just a little bit?
By the way, didn't Republicans control Congress when the clean Air Acts of 1990 and 1997 were passed? And wasn't it a Republican Congress that manidated increases in ethonol production in 2005.
Okay, I think I understand now. Democrats are responsible for global warming. And Democrats forced Republicans to pass legislation that raised gas prices and forced gas companies to accept record-setting profit against their will. Those pesky Dems!
Come on, Mustang. This is not your best work. Your arguments are shallow. I expect more from you.

I can always tell when my good friend Andy is in a bad mood. He gets testy, and in his angst, he begins seeing things that aren’t there. The point about Al Gore and John Edwards is that, in my view, neither is in a position to lecture anyone about the pitfalls associated with carbon emissions and global warming. That is true even if every scientist agrees that human beings are the direct cause of it, as opposed to a mere contributor.
I would assume that oil companies are in business to make a profit, and we can certainly argue about what percentage they ought to make over costs. But as LA pointed out, does it seem a bit of an overkill that government taxes produces greater revenue that an oil company’s profit? Of course profit and prices are linked — but the question remains valid: why does the government make as much money per gallon? And what is it they’re doing with that money?
My post mentions “congress.” It does not make distinctions about party affiliation. My suggestion is that congress is doing more harm than good, and the unasked question is this: is that why we have a congress? Perhaps members should be required to take a sort of Hippocratic Oath when they assume office — first, do no harm. At no time have I suggested that Democrats are responsible for global warming and this is the “seeing things” I wrote about a moment ago.

Hmmmm, the only ones you criticize by name are Democrats. That leads me to believe that they are really the only "guilt" ones.
If driving an SUV or owning a jet plane precludes Edwards and Gore from discussing global warming, then does having a really bad slice preclude a golfer from talking about golf?
Since neither Giuliani, nor Rommney, nor Thompson have ever served in the military does that mean they're precluded from discussing the war?
When you were criticising those who should keep their mouths shut, you only name Democrats. Take a page out of Fox's book - Be fair and balanced. Name one or two Independents.

Andy,
Forgive me if I've got you colored wrong, but I'm not one that wastes time with absurd notions like "Clouds are made of cotton candy" and "leftists are capable of rational thought."
That said, how is it hypocrisy to point out Al Gore and John Edwards and other Democrats don't live as "green" as their rhetoric?
Are there any Republicans of serious consequence that preach the "man causes global warming" eschatology?
Any?

Serious Andy, where's the Republican equivalent of books like Earth in the Balance" and An Iconvenient Truth?

Dear Mr. Beamish,
I haven't read Earth in the Balance, nor have I read An Inconvient Truth, and, frankly, I'm not inclined to do so. Nonetheless, I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and guess that the Republican equivalent of those loafty tomes might be, The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. Was I close?
And I never said that my good friend Mustang was being hypocritic in pointing out the presumed shortfalls or Mr. Gore and Mr. Edwards.
What I did criticize him for was only naming Democrats who drive SUVs or who fly around in their own private jets. Are there no Republicans who can afford to drive SUVs? Are there no Republicans who own private jets. Why for goodness sake, I think there must be one or two somewhere in the country. And I think we should who they are.
If driving an SUV is a sin, and it must be if John Edwards does it, then why not 'out' all the sinners regardless of party politics?
As for knowing what Republicans preach, I must admit that I don't listen to Republicans who preach, or to Democratics who preach, or Independents who preach, and I certainly don't listen to Socialists when they preach. I feel obligated to admit that I once went out with a female minister and I did listen to her when she preached - - not closely, mind you, but I listened. I was young.
Must go. There's news that a Republican has commandeered an SUV across town and is taking it for a joy ride. A mob with pitchforks and flambeaus is forming to cut him off. I simply can miss this.
