You know, if Al Gore was as smart as he thinks he is, he'd forget about this "carbon footprint" and "man causing global warming" crap. If he really wanted to push for hybrids and alternatives to carbon based fuels, he'd present the secondary gains as the primary.
He should sell it under the, "shed the nation's dependency on Middle East oil" banner. Because that's the only way we will ever be able to stop sucking up to the Saudis.
What a day that would be, when we could tell the entire Middle East where they can stuff their oil. Then all of the threat of the Euro replacing the Dollar as the oil currency can become a reality. With that, the U.S. can pull out of the ME and let China , Russia, India, and even Europe fight over it.
If this were to happen, it'd weaken everyone while we could re-tool with our newly discovered energy source that everyone would want to buy. In turn, this would strengthen us.
Think about it. It could cure (ahem) global warming and stop the war, all in one play. Nothing like killing two liberal agendas with one stone, right?
I am sure that I can file this under fantination, which is best defined as, a cross between a fantasy and a a hallucination. This falls somewhere in the area of what I would do if I won this $56 million Hoosier Lottery prize. But it's to fun to think about it.

First, and most important of all, if you win the $56 million lottery, I want you to know that no one on the face of this planet admires you more than I do; certainly, such devotion on my part should entitle me to two measely million, huh?
I'm not sure that we're smart enough to develop alternative energy sources, LA. It is always possible that we already have and are just holding back until the time is right, but I doubt it. No one in government could keep that a secret for long, eh?
On the other hand, if we simply nuc'd the crap out of everyone else's oil fields, wouldn't that make us king? And if we did that, and the earth were to spin off into an orbit further away from the sun, wouldn't that solve our global warming problem?
Hey, I'm just asking . . .
Meanwhile, what are we going to do with all these "less than staunchly pro-American" immigrants? Timing is important here, LA . . . I need to know when to buy my wife a Berkha.

Excellent...I read this last night and thought about it much. Why do we cater to the Saudi's? Oil. Nothing more or less. And not just Bush- but every leader of recent past. And near future as well. The people we're willing to share a bed with are some of the worst to mankind- yet without them, some fear the end of the world.
Oil.

When I gave my speeches about Islam and dhimmitude last Sunday, I used a short clip from the film Islam: What the West Needs to Know. I cannot stress enough that it is a must-see film, even if watching it will keep you awake for several nights in a row.
Mustang,
I love this turn of phrase in your essay:
Mr. Bush is prancing around the Saudis like a little girl in a tutu...
I voted twice for the man, and now I can barely look at his face when it appears on my TV screen.
The dhimmitude I see all over the West has cast a pall over my life. Oh, I'll pull out of these doldrums (I always do!), but I grow more and more concerned with every passing day.

Al Gore. Pfffft! He holds interest in Occidental Petroleum--or so I've heard.

Bravo Mustang!..what a gem!
ignore the implication that Christians and Jews need to be “tolerated,” and focus instead on what Mr. Bush conveniently or ignorantly omitted...o yes a convenient omission my friend!..pffftt!!

Good read. We need a President who can tell the difference between diplomacy and taqiyya. Hence recognizing it for what it is, and explaining it to the American people. I will never vote for ANYONE who utters the phrase "religion of peace" ever again.
