Any interaction and/ or treaties w/ the UN is counterproductive to US interests...
akin to giving up our Constitution and the Bill of Rights...
I trust nothing that comes out of that body...

From your post - After all, even leftists like the idea of making a ton of money, which I suppose some might argue is hypocrisy in its worst form. I wouldn
’t know about that, but it does remind me that an unenforceable law is worthless.
Also, they've never created a committee that went anywhere, nor would they dismantle an ineffective one.

Today alone, Kim Jong Il is beefing up his efforts saying that the US presence of defensive missiles around Hawaii is a threat. The missiles are the type to shoot down any attack launched by North Korea... with idiots like the NK leader there is no "good faith". The United Nations itself is a joke and utter failure and should be disbanded.

I've learned how to read your COUNTERPOINT pieces..read the LIB first then the CON, I feel way better that way.
I told Leslie she must be reading WAY too many Ducky comments, she's just getting way too good on the left's perspective!
EXCELLENT piece, Mustang. Thanks. xx

The NPT is a joke -- a very dangerous joke.
the United States will have to suffer the loss of another major city before the light bulb comes on
Very likely. Tragic that we'll have to learn the hard way.
The only "branch" of the United Nations that has amounted to a hill of beans is the WHO.

//We suppose that failing to learn the lessons of history the United States will have to suffer the loss of another major city before the light bulb comes on. Among those of us who do think about such things, it will give us no pleasure to say “I told you so,” but let us recall that if the destruction of a small portion of downtown New York City caused a major disruption to our economy, imagine the impact of losing an entire city.//
There you go scaring people again, Mr. Mustang. You cannot go about preaching fear and expect people not to be scared.
Now if you will excuse me, I have to go hide in my basement before someone gets me.

Stanley, why don't you go hide under the skirts of the UN?
Mustang, once again you have written on the topic brilliantly.

Dear Stan:
May I recommend adult diapers? You can purchase them at any CVS, Walgreens, or Wal-Mart store.
Wimp.

Most Americans do not understand that international treaty have the force and effect of counter-manding all US and state laws. A foreign treaty trumps our own beloved Constitution. There is no greater reason for members of the US Senate to very carefully consider ratification of these agreements.
In my view, it is a high price for "playing nice" with the world community.
Just thought I throw that in for grins and giggles.

Pitbull: You are exactly correct. Kill it in committee is the way to avoid taking responsibility. That's the way our Congress works, too.

Jeez Ham ... does this mean that Kim Jung Il is off your Christmas list? In my own humble opinion, NK is only good as a practice range for naval artillery and air bombardment practice. So yeah, I agree ... Mr. Kim sucks. Sure glad I live on the East Coast, though.
But I do think Stanley would make an excellent ambassador to NK. Heh.

AOW ... I'm not sure I can agree with you about the WHO. In the most recent influenza scare, we had WHO directing our own CDC. Are we being taken over by a bunch of foreigners?
That isn't how I visualize American sovereignty.

Mustang, Excellent Post....I hope we don't have to suffer an attack here. OB will not know how to handle it....and the people he put in charge certainly won't know....Are you ready to have the government pay you a visit when you attempt to sell your house to ascertain it meets federal requirements before it can be sold?????Our government at work......Our individual freedoms evaporate!!!!! File them all........stay well....

Mustang,
I was referring to the WHO's work with regard to smallpox and polio -- not recent work by the WHO. I should have clarified earlier.
