Gravatar Just post this on Leslie's;it fits here too..
Big government with 'servants' not answerable to the citizens was NOT what the Founders had designed-It's time to get back to original documents...re-establish what the Founders formed and follow through with an ever WATCHFUL attitude--in other words...closely manage the 'servants' who really believe they are 'royal'...

Gravatar There is no comparison.

Gravatar mustang, Great post and quotes. If only those idiots we have representing us would open their eyes for more than $$ OH what am I thinking....would they do that???stay well...

Gravatar If we were to use this post as a basis for a full length motion picture, the title would be:

Six Geniuses And An Idiot

It doesn't matter who we would cast as the founding fathers, but I nominate Susan Sarandon to play the idiot. She wouldn't have to worry about getting in or out of character. In other words, he'd be a natural.

Gravatar It's a wonderful post and a terrific way to ease us into the Fourth with all those quotes from our really great country-founding Americans.
Nancy Pelosi falls short every time she opens her mouth.
LA's movie title sure would fit.

Gravatar I think we do have some good news about Nancy Pelosi, however. Even the WaPo grudgingly admits that her popularity is on the decline. Enough to unseat her?

Gravatar Didn't Pelosi and Reid share the Congressional 15% approval rating during the election??? How does one "plunge" downward from that? Obama's rating is going down hill now... I think there is always hope that Congress will get disenchanted since the House leaders who voted Yay for Cap n Trade are being hunted down like dogs by the "grassroots patriots"! They are digging up everything they can and will have quite an arsenal by election time. LOL!!!!

Gravatar Oh and Mustang... this is a wonderful post. Too bad you had to post a photo of Nutsy Pelosi in order to keep her separate from true brilliance... but I really love the post. LOL!!!

Gravatar “The essence of Government is power; and power, lodged as it must be in human hands, will ever be liable to abuse.” —James Madison

"Government is a cancer, which, if left to grow will be the destruction of our great country."--Average American

Gravatar "Politics I supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." - Ronald Reagan

And that's what our elected leaders are proving every time they vote for pork-ridden, wasteful, and unnecessary laws.

Gravatar He's had all the moves:

"One of the very difficult parts of the decision I made on the financial crisis was to use hardworking people's money to help prevent there to be a crisis." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Jan. 12, 2009

"I'm telling you there's an enemy that would like to attack America, Americans, again. There just is. That's the reality of the world. And I wish him all the very best." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Jan. 12, 2009

"In terms of the economy, look, I inherited a recession, I am ending on a recession." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Jan. 12, 2009

"I guess it's OK to call the secretary of education here 'buddy.' That means friend." --George W. Bush, Philadelphia, Jan. 8, 2009

"So I analyzed that and decided I didn't want to be the president during a depression greater than the Great Depression, or the beginning of a depression greater than the Great Depression." --George W. Bush, Washington D.C., Dec. 18, 2008

"People say, well, do you ever hear any other voices other than, like, a few people? Of course I do." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Dec. 18, 2008

"I've abandoned free market principles to save the free market system." --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., Dec. 16, 2008

"You know, I'm the President during this period of time, but I think when the history of this period is written, people will realize a lot of the decisions that were made on Wall Street took place over a decade or so, before I arrived in President, during I arrived in President." --George W. Bush, ABC News interview, Dec. 1, 2008

Gravatar no comparesion indeed Mustang!..GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Gravatar Liberal Rule #1

"When in doubt of anything legitimate to say...fall back on the incantation of George W. Bush's name."

Gravatar Thank you, Ducky. You've taught me an important lesson: never anticipate an intelligent response from a liberal.

Gravatar Ducky,

Once again, you are comparing apples to oranges.

Not only have you tried to shift the topic from the ignorance of one person onto another, you have only cited gaffes. Every public figure has had their share of them. Predictably, you have missed the point.

This is because Ms. Pelosi's quoted statements were not gaffes, they were statements. They were not innocent mistakes.

You see Duckman, gaffes are different than inherent character flaws. Switching a position when it's politically convenient is but one example of a person who is completely void of principles, which is indicative of some serious character flaws.

So, go ahead. Try your usual bait and switch routine, if that makes you feel better. Try and change the subject back to GWB to justify your weak judgments. But rest assured you fool no one but yourself.

Gravatar We now have solid evidence that Liberalism (a mental disorder) and "Bush Derangement Syndrome" (another mental disorder) go hand in hand. Another great point completely missed by the village idiot. Ducky's batting 1000.

Gravatar "You know, I'm the President during this period of time, but I think when the history of this period is written, people will realize a lot of the decisions that were made on Wall Street took place over a decade or so, before I arrived in President, during I arrived in President." --George W. Bush, ABC News interview, Dec. 1, 2008

...and was he ever RIGHT about THAT one!

Gravatar Where are the WMDs?

Did President Bush actually engage this nation in a "pre-emptive war?"

Wasn't the Coalition of the Willing a true coalition?

Semper Fi,
Andy

Gravatar Rather than poke fun at Rep. Pelosi's character and creditablity (which I admit is loads of fun and generally makes everyone feel good), wouldn't the scholarly mind critique and challenge what she says?

Just a thought.

Semper Fi,
Bulldog

Gravatar Another great point completely missed by the village idiot. Ducky's batting 1000.~~LASunset

Great line, and so damn accurate.

Gravatar Sorry to hijack your thread. Check out Van Morrison's version of Carrickfergus on my site. Enjoy.

Gravatar The thing about our Founders is that their own words are contained elsewhere, as well as in our founding documents. What a rich pool to draw from. We should do it more.

Here's one of my favorites:
"Our constitution was made for only a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other." - John Adams

Having said that, the true meaning is that a "moral and religious" people will guard the freedom of others to be otherwise. Without the Constitution serving a base of moral and religious people, we would have tyranny in the blink of an eye.

This is a fine collection.
