I haven't read the Pandagon piece yet, but Seemann got it wrong I believe. He pointed to 2001 budget funding for absinence education, which would validate the claim of the christ-o-crat. That's not to say Timken didn't have abstinence education, cause they did... It's just that Jeff sourced it wrong.
I talked about it over at GO. There were a few articles that week that cited Timken actually did have an abstinence program (including the canton rep), despite press-releases by other Ohio Taliban claiming they did not.

That is in addition to a CNN piece where one of the young pregnant females declares, "Abstinence, they do teach a little bit about. But most of the kids are having sex. So, they need to teach about other things, like contraceptives and stuff like that, because the fact is, kids are having sex."

Yep, they live in a dream world. This harms people. It would be very nice if folks waited to be married to have sex. Reality says it does not work.

This stuff always drives me nuts. I don't remember my first "sex talk" though I do remember my first oral conterceptive talk and that was age 10. At age 16 I was working at a student sex/condom clinic where we talked about STDs, handed out condoms, dental dams, lube etc.
At age 16 I also began union organizing with the hopes of becoming a union organizer for the sex trade industry.
And you know what, I was doing all this while still being abstinent by choice. I knew the risks and knew I wasn't ready. Isn't that what the point of all this is? Young adults are a lot smarter then Ms. Huber gives them credit for. How do we convince "Christ-o-crats" that the best way to convince a teen not to be sexually active is to give them all the facts. Talk to them about the risks of Herpes, show them some photos of herpes...if anyone still wants to have sex after seing a sore...man.

Uh, yeah, your right. People are basically going to do what they don't want to do and what they have been taught is wrong. Why teach them what is right. Let's just make it against the law to teach them there's another way (doing what's right). They are too stupid, selfish, and emotion driven to actually consider wrong and right. I think the argument banning people from teaching the alternative of just not doing it to show your love for your maker and the one you eventually marry is lame. Banning it makes those who are promiscuous feel better about their lifestyle.
