I spent some time looking online for exactly where you were and where that hurricane was - didn't think it'd getcha, but we prayed for you anyway =D It's nice to stay in touch with you this way - I hope you continue blogging when you get home and then go back to school.
I agree with what you said in your last long paragraph. I am glad you survived the hurricane.
No matter what it is people choose I appreciate it more when they exhibit it by example rather than by semonizing (is that a word?) to me about how I need to choose the same thing.
Every year at Rosh Hashana we read about Abraham and Isaac. I think your interpretation is very good. I enjoyed reading your sermon.
And P.S. I didn't mean you (sermonizing) I like your sermon. I was commenting on your comments on people trying to 'win' people to Christianity.
I also would prefer an earthquake to a hurricane. People who know I moved here (Cincinnati) from LA tell me they would be scared of earthquakes. Please! In the midwest there be tornados and I don't like them (one passed VERY CLOSE to our house a few years ago). I'd rather shake a little than blow away or have a tree spear my house.
I am glad that you liked my sermon. I find that the whole process of preaching and preparing a sermon is quite like painting, which means that I have the same feelings of inadequacy when creating and delivering it!
