Sheep Go To Heaven is one of my favorite Cake songs. The chorus repeats the line "sheep go to heaven and the goats go to hell". I always wondered where that came from. The video's pretty funny too.
Hang in there. It's hard to be patient, I guess that's why everyone says it's a virtue. Sorry I don't have better advice. But I know you're doing a great job over there, so just keep it up.
The mermaid part had me cracking up!
I'm sorry it hasn't been easier on you. But, it sounds like you're needed over there. And even if they don't "play by the rules", I would bet they are walking away with at least a curiosity concerning the fullness of God that they *could* have. There's that whole "planting a seed" analogy that gets used all the time. We'll have to pray that God takes what you've been able to do and turn it into something bigger.
More than anything, in serving this difficult people group, *you* have grown and been strengthened.
"going to the beach for a swim is getting pretty old" is not a sentence in my world. 
Susan, spend some extended time in Jamaica and I'm sure you'll discover the meaning of that sentence. Now a pool on the other hand, I really covet...
Tisra - I couldn't believe the mermaids, either. Bizarre. Hopefully you're right and that at some point someone may want to consider what it is to have a deeper relationship with God.
Tyler - I totally thought of you and the Cake song when I was teaching it because I both know the song and know that you like it.
