Ah, the Land Grant Game. The Big 10's equivalent of seating Penn St. and Michigan St. next to each other at the 'miscellaneous' table of a wedding, b/c they seem like they would 'get along with each other.'
Hopefully, Notre Dame's more grizzled alumni will soon die off, and ND will come to their senses, and join the big 10 (or Big 12, part deux at that point). Thus, the PSU-ND can resume each year, instead of every 15.
Seriously, lots of tradtion, traveling fanbase, completely unrealistic expectations from alums... these squads were made for each other.
There's something about those rural ag schools versus the state "prestige" schools that is so damn interesting. While my gut instinct is to side with the "book-learnin, teeth-havin" teams, when you look at the starched shirt pricks that come from these schools (and often end up in their law schools), I have begun in recent years to side with the rural agrarian land grant populists over the arrogant hair helmet douches. I mean, I'm plenty anti-Auburn and I would certainly vote for dropping some napalm on a great many meth huffing truck-driving frat mutants, but when the great class war comes, I think the farmers will burn the stately white columns of the ivory tower and I might just clap for that.
Whoever wrote this is pretty funny. Good knowledge of hip-hop too, I'll give you that. I went to VT and don't really care about UVA, I never saw it as a real big rivalry b/c I am originally from MD. Anyways, if you are talking strictly about football then you are talking reckless b/c UVA football is garbage. So is their basketball team.
Provided you're well-versed on Tech's sports teams, I'm sure you can give a brief rundown of their illustrious history in important bowl games and March Madness. Stress on the word "brief."

William and Mary got overlooked twice in that column. Our rivalry with Richmond is the oldest rivalry in the South. And we are a public institution in the South with uglier chicks than Tech.
True, true...my college decision came down to UVA and W&M, and I remember the female situation being pretty dire there. I was thinking along the lines of DI-A schools in the South, but trust me, it definitely crossed my mind. It's still a really well-respected school, though.
I'll never forgive UVa for beating Carolina that one year in Charlottesville. We'd played FSU close in Tallahassee and a win over the 'Hoos would've put us in a BCS bowl. We're up by, like, 10 and driving for a score that would've put the game away.
Chris Keldorf throws a perfect pass to a DB in the UVa end zone, who takes it all the way back and ignites a rally.
Then again, I should blame Mack Brown for being the worst game caller in all of Div I football (with the possible exception of Bobby Bowden). He couldn't game manage out of a paper bag if it came with directions.
